I suggest an upright unit if you have the space, picked up the larger upright Bissell Power Clean Max a couple weeks ago, no regrets. It has spot cleaning attachments, too.
The clincher between getting it or hiring a rug doctor for a couple days was my mate saying “think of the type of stuff people hire a rug doctor for, do you really want it in your house” and knowing that they don’t really get cleaned between usages 😂
