Hori Split Pad Compact (Apricot Red) for Nintendo Switch $44 + $5.95 Shipping @ Mighty Ape

SAVE10

Seems to be a great price for a reasonably well rated larger form joy con for the Switch.

What this is is a portable mode only replacement controller for those that find the original joy cons too small or cant stand the split up dpad.

What this lacks is:
Motion control
Rumble
Wireless connectivity

They also have the grey with the attachment set for $94 before the code which is a good price but ultimately the bit in the middle just turns them in to a wired controller and doesn't fix the missing functionality.

  • Seemed to be oos

  • Now $109.

  • Get the Hori split pad pro if you want to feel like you're using a proper console controller

    • I've been wanting something more than the joy cons for years but wasnt sure if I'd use them enough to justify $100. At $44 i took the plunge at last.

Reviews seemed to say the compacts are the nicer controller though with an all round nicer feel than the pro and slightly less heft.

      • Yea they need a bigger case but I love the pro, it's the heft I like. Although same things listed missing from the compact

      • I have the Split Pad Compact and its amazing. Feels like a proper controller! Only issue is it doesn't have HD Rumble which sometimes can be an advantage for some games like Luigi's Mansion 3.

        • Motion was my biggest concern but in reality i think i only used it about 4 times across breath of the wild and tears of the kigndom when shrines forced it on you. All other implementations of it have been optional and I didnt actually use it. If i need it I'll dig out the joy cons for 2 minutes.

          • @Everettpsycho: True. Not really been a fan of the gyro controls but with my current games, I don't really need it. Split Pad Compact is my go to on my Switch. Just feels so comfortable. Hope you like the Compacts.

            • @heisenburgerzzz: Had a quick go om them tonight and wksh I'd picked them up years ago already, never quite took the plunge as i didnt need another controller and wasnt sure id use them. It's significantly more comfortable to play on the sofa and will probably do more of that now instead of doom scrolling. Hopefully the switch 2 keeps the rails for them to transition over when it comes out. At $44 i think theu were absolutely worth the money.
