pc i want to get is $ 1,598.99 at this point i may also throw in $50 to jb hi-fi
don't try to sell them on trademe, they're banned. (too many scammers trying to launder money)
With the new website, the value might be under $500
One day you'll get rid of those gift cards…
i hope so
I hope not, jamesdeal's Mighty Ape gift card post is how I track the seasons.
its a gift that keeps on giving
You need to be more realistic about the price you ask for them, ie I suspect it would be more like 80-85% of the GC value.
I'm surprised that some Cheapies members don't really understand that. Someone here once expected me to physically pick up a gift voucher at approx the face value of $160. The justification was that I would be doing them a favour
As others have mentioned, you'll have better luck selling them in smaller amounts at more realistic prices.
From what I've noticed about GC sales for stores like The Warehouse, JB, or SCA:
- 90% of face value = small values take weeks to months; large values hardly ever sell.
- 85% of face value = small values take days to weeks; large values take weeks to months (if they ever sell).
- 80% of face value = small values take hours to days; large values take weeks.
Cards like phone top-ups, Steam, Apple, or Google Play sell quicker and/or for a higher % of face value; while less popular/more niche stores' cards sell slower and/or for a lower % of face value.
update im in talks with mightyape they will get back to me tomorrow or Monday they may give me a deal on one of the pre built pcs they sell
Thanks for the update
the pc they may give me for $1750 specs are would be a better deal if the pc was $1600
i5 14400F 10 Core 4.7GHz Processor
16GB DDR5 5600MHz Memory
RTX 4060 8GB Graphics
MSI PRO B760M-A Wifi DDR5 MOTHERBOARD
1TB Gen 4 NVMe SSD
650w 80+ Power Supply
Wifi 6E + 2.5Gbps Ethernet + Bluetooth 5.3
i know its a rip off same specs pc can be had on pb tech much cheaper but having these gift cards for so long and not being able to sell them i am happy to have them used
Sounds like this pc
https://www.mightyape.co.nz/mn/buy/mighty-ape-playtech-gamin…
I mean it's not bad considering you'd probably lose out on around $200 value if you traded or sold the gift vouchers anyway
How do those specs compare to the PC you wanted from PB tech?
That's the Voyager prebuilt that's $2349 yeah? They're going to knock $600 off it for you? Why would they do that? They're being very kind, if I was a store and someone couldn't find anything to spend their giftcards on I'd just tell them hard luck.
@Flippant: no its the one in the link above your comment
i contacted playtech live chat yesterday and they contacted mightape for me to get the price down
@jamesdeal: Ask them to swap for Ryzen 7000 CPU & AM5 Platform
Intel 13 & 14 series has degradation issues, while the lowere end is n't affected as much and though they say it's been mitigated but still, if you want best performance an upgrade ability AMD AM5 platform is currently better
Something like a 7700/7600 X & B650 since the pc's built by playtech you can check playtech site for price comparison of equivalent
Or I would even contact playtech via email directly explain your situation and what you want and see if i can work something out saying you'll buy the pc from might ape but if they can swap it around parts. If they're good they may assist.

4060 is decent midrange Gpu
@Huntakillaz: Here's what I would do
Spend about $1300 at mighty ape, then sell off the remaining gift cards and get the Motherboard and CPU from PBtech
It works out about $300-500 more over all depending when you buy but much better system
Now you've got a system thats has way better parts and upgradeable for quite a while (AMD 9000 series and possibly the 10000 series too, as well as being able to use X3D chips if you're into gaming or x950X Chips for heavy workloads), compared to those crappy prebuilts
And you won't lose value to someone else as much
@jamesdeal: How did you get on? Did you manage to get a new computer?
@Martz5: no because they told me they could only price it at $1799 now and i only have $1754.25 and i really do not want to spend any of my own money
@jamesdeal: Cheapies champion right here
@nzsaver: I'm tempted to donate a few bucks to the cause.
You will also have better luck selling if you accept cash or bank transfer rather than Paypal or swapping for another GC from PB Tech or wherever.

Launder your vouchers through Trade Me by using them to buy good deals off MA and then selling them on there.
That Bad Dudes mini arcade machine deal that you posted on here for $20 last month would've been perfect. It's back up to $68 on there now. Buy 10 of them for $200, list them on TM for $25 each to cover success fees and Ping costs, and you're $15 cheaper than what any other place is selling them new for in NZ. They're going to sell, not immediately, but they'll sell.
The advantage you have is that you aren't looking to make a profit, just convert your vouchers to cash, so you can afford to sell things cheaper.
For example, PS5 controllers are currently on sale for $84ea on MA, and the cheapest new colored controllers on TM are $99 each, 2 colors available, then they jump up to $109 for the next cheapest, so you could afford to undercut the cheapest seller by $9 and sell them for $90, or you could do them for $95 and offer Afterpay, which most people won't use so you'll end up pocketing the extra 5% you added to the price. Once all the stores finish their Black Friday sales the price of controllers is sure to go back up again to $120 or whatever they cost, so people will be looking to Trade Me for deals.
Just do that. It'll take a bit of work on your side, you'll have to make sure the things you're buying will actually sell on TM and that you can sell them at a competitive price on there compared to other sellers who might be selling similar products, but do it right and you'll convert those vouchers to the best voucher of them all, cash, accepted everywhere and never expires, and you might even make a few bucks in the process.
Are you able to split the gift card value up? I don't mind paying 80% market value as someone's stated in the thread as being a more realistic amount you're seeking. Looking to purchase an DJI Pocket 3 if I can get MightyApe to price match. They seem to have taken it away in the recent website updates.. Can meet up in Auckland if you're in this area too. Cheers.
yep i might be able to do that im in auckland but would have to use my mightyape gift card balance to buy the gift card on there site and email it to you
update i have left $1539 after buying something its took so many tries when checking out but finely worked and my order was placed
so i found stuff i want also buying a few things for my mum but checkout still has this glitch it sucks trying for last hour for order to go thew but it wont :(
I’m starting to consider talking the bucket from @wowbigdeal and passing it around

It's the gift that keeps giving.
💵🪣
logged into my MA account last night all my previous orders information is gone and my account balance is now $0
Success!
Shoulda bought the PC parts I mentioned.
Would have had 3/4 of a PC at least.
R.I.P
i did try but there checkout was glitched would try and pay for the items using my MA gift cards but when i would click the pay button i just got a loading bar then error message and tried contacting MA a number of times and they just never get back to me i would keep trying multiple times everyday for a week to checkout and it just would not work
so i added to my order the msi claw also and also some pc parts and still got the error when checking out tried for 2 days :( gave up something on there end glitched an i saw an order on my account but it was just for the msi claw
the day it got deviled to me was the day they took all my gift card money :(
Did you take screenshots or screen recordings? Especially of your balance?
I'd be emailing them hardout, or going to their depot in Albany, Auckland if you're near there.
Worst case, you may have to goto disputes tribunal I think.
@Huntakillaz: good news i finely got an email from MA about time like 5mins ago but im not going to believe it till i see it
We're been investigating your credit redemption issue and have identified that the system was struggling due to the number of credits.
Our team are working on fixing that so it's not an issue in the future, but in the meantime the best solution we could identify was to remove the individual credits and reissue them as a single credit.
This is in progress at the moment, and you should have a credit of $1625.25 showing on your account when our team have completed this. This is likely to go through on Monday. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience
I'm not interested myself as I've never bought anything off mighty ape.
Good places to sell are here, market place, trade me, geekzone, your own social media accounts. You might have to break them up into individual bundles.
I guess the first question you'll be asked is.. How much do you want for them?
