  • Good news thank you

We already booked a flight using your website next march when it was 15 days visa free, but since it will be 30 days can we change the flight plan without penalty?

My site is just a search, so you likely booked through an online agency linked to, like my trip or gotogate or kiwi.com. They all have different rules so you'll need to check with them.

Never book a flight through a third-party search engine or an aggregator site. Always book directly with the airline, even if it costs a bit more. This is a golden rule I always follow.

        Do you mind sharing why?

This is the first time for us as we normally do it through a agency.

If you’re talking about a local agency, they can be helpful if they take responsibility and act as a single point of contact. The downside with most third-party providers is that they often can’t make decisions on their own. Plus, I’ve noticed they tend to add extra service fees at checkout. On the other hand, booking directly with an airline means dealing with just one entity, which makes things much easier, especially in situations where you need to make changes or handle an emergency. That said, if everything goes smoothly with your booking, it really doesn’t make much of a difference.

@danz: Cheers dude, I will take your points into consideration.

          • @danz: I find that travel agents sometimes provide better route options for transit that I can't arrange on my own. However, I agree it can be a hassle to contact them, especially after we've already departed.

It's good they changed it to 30 days, as the original 15 days was ridiculous.

    • I twas a godsend for those of us that previously had to pay $110. just to set foot!

If you're a non-New Zealand passport holder, you can begin the visa process at this link: https://consular.mfa.gov.cn/VISA/visa/. We are in Shanghai for 6 days on our way back from Hanoi and obtained a transit visa. It didn’t require biometrics but did require two visits to the consular office.

Somehow it's a deal now hahaha. As a Chinese, I do recommend everyone to use this opportunity to experience the real China!
