Just a warning, these jug water filters are a little like printers, the filter refills can be quite expensive and I believe need to be changed every 2-4 weeks depending on usage.

    DYOR before committing.

Yep, it's cheaper long term to just get an under bench water filter. The water quality will be better and you can get filters that last up to 3 years. Plus you can put a full filtered jug in the fridge to cool, rather than go through life with your jug perpetually half empty (or is it half full?)

      • any advice please where do you go to get a decent one, any you recommend/have experience with? i mainly filter for limescale to keep the kettle/coffee machine clean, otherwise happy to drink the tap water

Regular inline filters are pretty ubiquitous, you can pick up a kit from Trade Depot or the like for under $100 if you are willing to DIY. In addition to the kit above you'll need a T joint and isolation tap from the look of it. The hardest part of installing is cutting a hole in your (presumably stainless) sink top. This will give you a basic sediment filter. A carbon block filter will set you back a bit more, this will reduce chemicals and other tastes (chlorine, etc).

Limescale filters are a bit harder to find, but I think something like this (replacing the filter in the kit above) should do what you need: https://www.waterfiltersonline.co.nz/products/hydronix-inlin…

That's the most basic end, your can move up to larger filters that can filter all the cold water through your kitchen tap if you prefer, but you'll need to replace filters more frequently.
