Cashing out One Wallet balance before cancelling mobile plan

I'm looking at switching my mobile and fibre provider away from One.

I have $560 in my One Wallet which can be used to buy a phone on a 12/24/36 interest free term with a minimum (unknown) deposit and minimum $0.01 monthly payment.

Has anyone tried getting a cheaper phone like a Samsung Galaxy A Series and then cancelling their mobile plan? I'm hoping they will just charge for the remaining monthly payments and I get to keep the phone.

I believe the One Wallet balance is conditional on remaining on an IFP with an ongoing plan. Read the Terms and Conditions.

    • Ah I see they don't use the balance all at once, they spread it out over the term, and if you cancel then you lose the balance that wasn't applied to monthly payments.

Still, might be worth doing it for 12 months and selling the phone.

  • I don't know about your balance, but when I had a credit on my Vodafone account, I filled in a form to get it credited to my bank account. But it seems your credit is conditional.

    • This is different from having credit on your account, one wallet is a fairly new thing with one where it goes towards an interest free purchase of a phone.
