Our local Gull went from being the cheapest in the area to consistently the most expensive. They are often 6-10 cents more than the BP opposite them (after the BP member discount) and 6+ cents more than the Z 2k's up the road. They almost always put up their prices on a Tuesday/Wednesday by a few cents before they do a discount day on the Thursday and then it suspiciously drops a few cents on the Friday/Saturday. It's put me off patronising there.
Waitomo is consistently cheaper (usually 10 cents cheaper than Gull), have the Waitomo Mulah feature, and the local ones match the discount days on Thursdays. Pity the closest one to me is 20k's away…
I'd rather Gull focused on value all the time rather than these dodgy discounts.
