First time posting.
Been waiting for a better deal on Apple AirPods Pro 2 and saw this today. It says international version, but you can price match the non-members price on JB Hi-Fi if you prefer.

Yes, though the battery life is way behind compared to commercial models. Also, there's an element of servicing that a hearing aid needs, like regular cleaning of both ear canals and the hearing aid itself to control earwax buildup that I'm not sure Apple is going to provide. You might need to buy multiple airpods or really diligently clean them, iirc the mesh is not removable or replaceable?
Regardless, great work here by Apple. 400 for a pair of hearing aids is no mean feat, when the next cheapest one costs thousands and thousands.
ear wax would just build up in the removable tips, which you can buy replacements of. I personally swap the silicone tips with third party memory foam variants.
……..no. Earwax buildup happens on the mesh on the earbuds itself, not just the tips. Changing the tips don't do anything to solve it completely. Open yours up and take a look yourself, it's disgusting in there.
That's also why professional hearing aids come with wax filters.
@Redcafej: I've just opened mine up, no build up there after 2000 hours use, never been cleaned. It may be my after market memory foam tips and their second layer of mesh that protects the inner mesh. ……..Can you check if your stock silicone tips have mesh?
I just paid $390 or so at noel leeming.
Some might feel that buying through a local retailer is a better choice for these.
I've been absolutely stoked with them. I had the pros one for 4 or 5 years and the ANC and transparency mode had stopped working properly so I figured if I get the same longevity, then it's worth it.
A$289 JBHifi Australia this weekend
It’s been like that for a while, tried to import but couldn’t find any stores who would deliver to NZ.
What are the bass and ANC like in these compared to say Sennheiser/Sony?
What’s the battery like?
It's actually a very good price for what it is, and a lot of features that others don't have in this bracket like good ANC/transparency mode and spatial audio. Put it this way, if you're an audiophile you won't absolutely hate it. If you're looking for Beats-like bass you're not going to get it here, it's more of a neutral sound. Another in this price bracket, outside of Chifi, is probably the Samsung ones because they own Harman.
Good feedback, thanks.
What’s 0 First?
Looks like free trial but then a massive $14.99 / monthly thereafter!
Also looks like dick smith NZ has this same price, which would get you NZ consumer guarantees too. Same company in backend.
Anyone using these with Android? I do have a Macbook to configure the shortcuts etc, concern is on the connectivity to non Apple phone
I've been using it on Android for about 6 months now, no issues at all with connectivity - it basically connects instantly. The only downside is that I can't see the charge of the case unless I pair it with my macbook, but I hardly ever check anyway since they're usually charged.
Yup. Recommend the app ‘material pods’ for battery status etc. there’s heaps of apps out there but this one isn’t poop
Important to note this sold directly by Kogan or Dick Smith; it's through a 3rd party called Heybattery.
JB HiFi in Hamilton price matched me the Dick Smith non-member price of $370 today without the slightest issue.
That's awesome to know. I'll give that a try myself tomorrow
Are these the latest models that can function as hearing aids?
