I would highly recommend not buying Arlo cameras. The cameras are absolutely useless without a subscription, you can't even open live view unless you're on a paid plan

    • You can open up live view, and you do get notifications but no recordings. And yes, just like Google, Amazon they want to drain your Wallet forever.

Im still on the arlo pro 2 with free 7 day cloud storage until EUL expiry.

    • Yes, I've got that plan and just like D-Link, they decided not to support their cameras after a few years. End of life, sounds like Canadian rest Home.

Built-in feature blocking? The disease is spreading!

I recently bought few tapo outdoor/indoor cameras from pbtech which seem pretty decent for the price.

C210, C310, C320. Put micro sd cards (can take upto 512 gb), hooked them up and can control all of them via the app. It also has a cloud subscription but haven't signed up for it. The recording loops over every 7 days which is ok for my use.

Have had them up for about 20 days now, seems to be working alright.

    • Yes, they are good value and now that the Tapo app and Kasa app have merged there is a lot more variety in smart home devices.

      • Another thing i like is that there is an option to hook them up using wired or wifi net. So that helps if the wifi is spotty over some areas.

I had got a quote for about 2 grand for a wired cam setup for 4 units. The one i set up with 4 cams is less than 300$, although it is wifi. Im still going to get connected with wired net when i have some time to spare.
