MSI Claw A1M-061NZ Handheld Gaming System $699 + Shipping ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ PB Tech

90

This seems to be the lowest price ever for this, i think its a great deal as the nearest comparable device would be an rog ally which still sits at about $1100

Do you know how much the new one is gonna be?

Considering a Switch is around the same price, I'd say this is a better console for the price

You're buying a switch for the games, not the hardware though.

      • FYI most switch games can be emulated on these handheld devices, my Legion GO which is similar to the Claw runs games like BOTW & TOTK at 30-40fps, lesser demanding titles run at 60fps.

Legion Go is quite a bit faster than the Claw

          • @kfr23: Yeah a few fps faster on most games, however claw is still pretty capable if you lower the resolution/graphic settings. Also with recent softwarr updates to the Claw, the performance on these devices is now getting pretty close, ROG Ally out performs both devices on just about every game though.

            • @Danz91: Yeah i was looking for an rog ally but i think at $699, this will do as it seems like a too good to be true price

              • @V565: I love my legion go - larger screen, higher resolution, detachable controllers and Thunderbolt eGPU support which the original ROG Ally didn't offer. The Claw also has thunderbolt eGPU support. I hook up my Legion go to an RTX 4070 eGPU when docked into my monitor, most games run flawlessly on ultra settings.

        • I played BotW fine using Yuzu on laptop with an IGP attached to an i5-1145G7.

I can't imagine this is any worse being several generations newer.

          Edit:
Notebookcheck puts the Intel Arc 8 core (found in the Ultra 5 135H) at more than twice the performance of the Iris Xe G7 80 found in the i5-1145G7

          https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Arc-8-Cores-iGPU-Benchma…
          https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Tiger-Lake-U-Xe-Graphics…

So should handle Switch emulation absolutely fine.

Would suggest paying a lil bit more for a Legion Go/ROG Ally/Steamdeck… (Or just wait a lil as these will drop more with the new versions of everything coming soon)

  • Picked one up yesterday. Haven’t played games on it yet but windows 11 is running super fast. So far happy with it.
Looking online it has got better with bios and firmware updates etc.
Will make a good portable PC as long as you have a screen to plug into and Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Cheaper than most laptops with the same specs
