Good price. Note that there is a bit of QC variance between units. Look out for the usual dead pixels, white/grey uniformity and backlight bleed (if you like to use your monitor in the dark) if these things bother you. For the latter, I noticed this more in the two units I tested which were manufactured in September 20204. I finally kept an April batch that was using the same panel as the video in here (use CC to translate) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkfzHOtsKEA. At the end of the day with IPS panels, it is always a lottery.

  • All time low right? Not bad

  • I loathe when gaming monitors look like transformers, this one seems pretty decent looking

  • Can't decide between this and the 1440p HP Omen to be honest. I got some NL gift cards to use, but otherwise there's also a couple of $350 and below 1440p monitors at PBtech to toss between.
Leaning HP omen though as apparently the dell's response time and refresh rate isn't accurate along with the QC.

    • Which Omen model exactly?

      • 27q - Noel Leeming offering it for $350. I've been told the dell is a better option, but also that the Lenovo PBTech are offering is actually more highly suggested than that, so, hard choices ahead.

        • Yeah it seems rtings prefers the Dell over the Omen in a direct comparision. What's the Lenovo you're talking about? The Lenovo R27qe?

          • @CheapSkate69: Yep that one. Apparently it can do 10bit 180hz using DP - I'm not certain that is true 10bit but it does claim 1billion colours and someone on reddit seems to also claim it, so maybe it is.
It's a really hard monitor to find reviews/info on, a couple of people on a discord dedicated to monitors told me this lenovo > Dell > HP when I asked and gave me a link to a Filipino reviewer. (I wish hardware unboxed reviewed this tbh)

            • @chunder: I'm watching this Polish review which seems to have heatmaps for response time at least: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo-U5_PUR1E
Hard to find much more about it tho. Reddit comments also seems to suggest it sells much cheaper than the Dell in other markets but here it's the same price considering the sale. Maybe that informs some of the recommendations over the Dell..

              • @CheapSkate69: The older version was also highly raved about and when you compare them it stacks well: https://versus.com/en/lenovo-legion-r27qe-27-vs-lenovo-legio…

The only issue I'm trying to understand is the overshoot/response time which is what HardwareUnboxed do well in their testing. I feel like either way they're probably both great budget optins, but the Lenovo seems to stand out with 10 bit depth and a higher refresh rate, maybe suffering most with contrast but that's one of those things that can differ between copies.
If colour work is important at all, I'd pick the lenovo - and I think that's what I'm going to do to be honest. I just gotta try and offload my noel leeming gift cards so I can go spend that money at pbtech! Also the Lenovo isn't on a sale, so there's a small chance maybe I can talk a rep into a minor discount!

                • @chunder: Well good luck. I think I'd prefer that monitor too but I'm also stuck with NL credit I want to get rid of lol. If you could let me know how things turn out I'd appreciate it!

                  • @CheapSkate69: I'm also after a sub $300 QHD 27 gaming monitor and can't decide with so many options right now. Let me know what you ended up getting.

                    • @jemas: I'm probably going to get the Dell just because I've got NL credit I need to burn but if that wasn't the case I'd probably prefer the Lenovo mentioned above because it does seem to edge it out with the higher refresh, hdmi 2.1, etc. To complicate things even more there's this similar KTC on Amazon au that's slightly more expensive because of the shipping cost (about $330nzd inc shipping) but seems even better, at least for gamers, because it has extremely fast response times. It's highly recommended on displayninja which is a good review site. In fact they say its the best budget monitor available.

Find it on Amazon au here:

                      Review is here:
                      https://www.displayninja.com/ktc-h27t22s-review/

                      • @CheapSkate69: I got the Lenovo. It's decent but I have a few concerns and am on the fence but probably would be about the dell as well. Response time/overshoot is the main concern really. Both the Lenovo and Dell are rated highly on this so it's hard to know if the Dell would actually be better. It's really annoying that specs are listed as the fastest response time with no concern for image quality.

Then there's other little things that are just annoying like the OSD settings are pretty minimal for a gaming monitor, and the Lenovo software is buggy as hell, half the time it won't open. The crosshair feature isn't even centered lol.

Don't have any concerns about the backlight bleed, seems fine/better than my 24" 1080p AOC. Factory calibration is decent, but I do own a calibration device so I'll be using it anyway.

The stand that comes with it is great. Actually kinda stoked on it - it's sturdy (not that I actually use it for this display as I have a monitor arm), but it uses 100x100 vesa which means I can just attach it to another monitor rather than it being a proprietary connection like most monitors use making it a waste and left in storage.

I think it still depends on your use case. If you want gaming maybe the dell will outperform in response time/overshoot. I wanted a game/editing combo, which is why I went with lenovo.

                        • @chunder: Thanks for the update mate. That's a shame if there's noticeable issues with response/overshoot - that surprises me cos theyre both highly rated like you say. The other issues I could live with and would probably expect from this price range anyway.

I'm probably going to go with the KTC H27T22S on Amazon au (you might've missed my previous comment about this to another user in this comment thread). It reviewed well on displayninja and has sub 5ms avg response times so should deliver on that front at least. It's got good variable overdrive which would be useful to me as well playing SP games with VRR. Just gotta finish cashing out these vouchers lol..
