Not only the environmental impact, you also get a fraction of a normal ink cartridge in the included starter ink. Not worth it. Use laser toner printers guys.

I got a HP laser printer with aftermarket toner, it's great, inkjets are PITAs.
Get some replacement inks from Aliexpress and it's pretty good value
Got any Ali cartridge links for this specific model? Thanks
In most cases, yes, however for this model they're still about $30 for remanufactured ones on Ali; you can get new legit ones for $39 at PBtech right now.
That's only for the black cart! Double the price if you want colour.
Newer model printers like this one suffer from not being able to bypass the DRM on the ink cartridges, hence the high $ going to Canon's pockets.
Older models like the MG series you can hold the STOP button for 5 seconds to bypass the 3rd party ink cartridge error, hence the DRM is lighter therefore the ink cartridge $10 for a set of colour AND black on Ali; basically no reoccurring $ going to Canon's pockets.
There's been basically 0 improvement to the entry-priced consumer inkjet printers in the last 5 years, so what I do is lookup the cheap ink first, then look for the appropriate model printer on the used market.
I rebought the same Canon MG series printer type from some guy on Facebook for $10 when my one from 5 years ago broke.
I picked up two off these today.
I'm going to try and refill the ink cartridges or buy some from AliExpress.
The Epson printer they were pushing in the store is only $9 more and the scanner on it is twice the resolution of the $19 Canon printer.
The Epson Expression Home XP-4200 may be a better purchase.
If someone finds a good online supplier for the ink cartridges I'd be very grateful if you shared the link.
Thanks, grabbed one for photo prints on spare photo paper I have that doesn't work well on laser printers (the colours come out muted)
Please don't buy a printer with the intention of no longer using it after the starter ink runs out. It's terrible for the environment, it may be a cheap dollar cost but the environmental cost is huge.
