Hey all.
I've got a 2015 Nissan Leaf, which needs English conversion for the stereo etc. I see various sites wanting ~$400 for a SD iso - which is quite the ripoff.
Anyone know where I can find one for either free or a much lower price?

When you get one they ask for the serial number of your unit so that they can embed it on the software. A generic software doesnt exist thst I'm aware of without that input so you will need to submit the number to someone. I have seen yku vam do it much cheaper with leafhacker on the leaf owners group on facebook but it dkes involve some shady russian hacker you can pay in crypto.
If you are spending $400 I'd consider looking in to the version that has android auto included. You lose charge timers with that one though.
Overall though, i wouldnt bother. We have two 2017 leafs, one in each language. The only two things i can say we need it in english for are working out how to pair new or swap existing bluetooth devices, and the clock being the correct time. Ive considered changing the japanese one but its not even worth $40 to me for such little impact on our lives.
Idk why but this piqued my interest whilst watching the cricket. Take a look at these forums. You might be able to spend less than $50 (or maybe even less).

Edit: nevermind looking into it the stereo and instrument cluster looks to be controlled differently.. Who knows, maybe LKA1 has posted on it, I've not looked at his entire post history.
I don't even have a leaf lol
I shelled out $300 for the conversion, mostly because the car didn't come with the SD card, so would never save any settings or remember any Bluetooth paired devices after the car turned off, and was a couple hundred to get a replacement SD card from Nissan anyway. I figured it'd probably add to the resale value of the car too.
I'm pretty happy with the conversion, especially with Android Auto and grabbing a $30 USB wireless Android Auto dongle from AliExpress.
what year is your leaf?
Who did yours? Am i right in thinking this version the charge timers are still non functional?
Why don't you just swap out the standard radio for an aftermarket? $400 buys you a pretty decent unit……
You can't on most models. It's integrated.
They are built in units for X and G models so not swappable with standard din units easily. The main screen also sets the dash clock so has skme kther integrations with the car.
Software has been quite widely hacked though so what the OP wants is one kf yhise thst can be jad cheap or expensive depending kn your apetute for risk from the source of the software.
Sorry, should have pointed out.
Yes you can get it for cheaper than $400. Prob around $200. But you will need to deal with some slightly shady appearing international people. Who frankly probably are shady. But as far as I could ever figure the various places who do this must get them this way?? Or have invested serious $$$ in Nissan. Software (that I doubt they sell to non-Nissa. Dealers).
I have an Atoto PS on dash system and they are awesome…. I bought it off amazon but they seem to be out of stock. I came on to say consider using an on dash system. I have previously replaced a head unit but this is so much better… it is hooked in via the radio as I don't have Bluetooth in my car. I just used google translate on the phone to read the screens on the car to hook it up.
Honestly, this is life-changing in an older car - I have all the functions via apple car play and it took two minutes to install.
Short version is no.
Slightly longer version is - those cards are programmed to a specific car. It's how the person who took the time to crack it gets paid. They clearly did a better job of protecting their IP than Nissan did.
It's not worth the effort IMO anyway. You'll get a little rxtra, next to useless, information. Use your phone to translate the important bits (which are fairly obvious anyway) and save yourself the time and effort.
