  • Ive always been tempted to put a few of these things around the place.

How does it work adding custom animations? Can you add .gifs?

    • I'm considering the same thing, putting a few up in a few spots.

    • You can create your own animations/gifs in app, frame by frame.
You can import a picture for a frame and draw over it.

I bought these for my kids for Xmas. They love them and can put what they want on via their tablets.

Is there shared/comminity art for this on the app?

This exact same model is available on Temu, it comes in two types: 16x16 pixels (the one that kmart sells) and 32x32 pixels (for more detailed images). I picked up the 32x32 on Temu for $20 with some promo a few months ago but most sellers have this at around $50 currently.
For the Temu model I got, this looks exactly the same as kmart version. You need to download an app called iDotMatrix where you can upload your own gifs, images, create your own pictures and choose from a large number of ready made gifs/images/clocks. I don't see an option for shared/community art. Please note the app and the device is quite buggy, it sometimes loses connection and the gifs dont always display properly. It also needs to be plugged in at all times as is not battery powered.

    • This is how I buy stuff nowadays…. check temu first.

  • It's kinda cool. But more $20 cool.

The plasma ball they may still have in some stores (I got the last CHCH one) for $20 was well worth it though IMO (though I do have a very 50s atomic theme going on - something that Kmart has supplied a suprising amount of the glassware and other random thing to. Their buyer is clearly on my page).

Actually is in stock apparently. Didn't see any at Northlands though. I might even buy another for my science kit.

    • I've had one of these for a good 20 years and looks identical. Makes your hands smell though when touching it
