Sadly mac minis aren’t included in the promotion this year. Previous thread https://www.cheapies.nz/node/45061

    • Yes, that is a pity, I would have been tempted to dip my toe back into the Apple Mac world, especially as I am not that enamoured with Win 11…

      • Funny, I have an Android phone and always used Windows but have an iMac at home and use an iPad as partner is a big Apple user/fan.

I'm looking for a new Windows laptop - using iOS after a lifetime of Windows is painful and irritating!

        • Yep - iOS has a few challenges in terms of productivity - so Win 11 will be better. But the problem I am finding with Win11 is the frequent barrage of nagging/pleading to sign up to MS Services - and not to mention some questionable UX design / cohesion choices. I have been test driving Linux Mint for a few months now - and I must admit it is a breath of fresh air and meets almost all of my needs. Just one legacy application I need to transition away from and then I think I will be using it full time.

I recently swapped over to an iphone 15 from a google pixel and it's been frustrating (honestly half of my frustrations are half of apps stopping music playing, even chess.com has to have sound off or i can't play music or podcasts).

But having dealt with win10/11 for a bunch of years in IT, I have linux mint on my desktop, a mac mini for my home server and a macbook pro m1 for fluffing about.

Yes, this is my fourth Mac mini and by far the best it's a little rocket ship , I brought it about two months ago. It's equivalent to a $2000 Mac mini two years ago. Great technology. Especially if you're in the Apple ecosystem these little Mac's can screen share like you're working on the same computer.

oh damn! I had been holding out specifically for this promo

      • Same here. Messaged them (through place an order iMessage) and they’ll “review” it, but I’m pretty sure it’s just a boilerplate response and I’m not holding my breath.
