At the moment, Spotlight has a deal where you can either buy one sewing pattern for $27-30 or 2 (from particular brands) for $18. I have one I want in mind, but I've trawled the hundreds of other patterns available and genuinely can't find anything else I'm interested in. I know the ethics might be a bit dodgy, but I considered buying two patterns to get the deal and then returning the one I don't want a week later. Their policy allows for change-of-mind purchases for up to 28 days as long as the item is not made-to-measure or personalised and returned in unopened, sellable condition.
What do you think would happen if I tried to return the excess pattern? I don't think they can refuse as their policy doesn't say a scenario like this is not eligible. Could they insist I return both? When I do a trial website purchase, it does show them as two distinct products with their own price (one at $8.52 and the other at $7.68 because I also have a VIP discount).
Thanks!
Probably best to ask them. You can just make something up like "I'm going to buy one for me and one for a friend, if they don't like it and I return it unopened under your change of mind policy, do I get 50% back?".
