  • Could be tempted to upgrade…anyone used this split boom before? Any good? 3 year warranty I suppose.

    • I haven’t got the split boom, but just upgraded from the 18v line trimmer to the 54v, and it’s a massive difference. Actually gets close to the performance of a petrol one. I kind of wish I’d gotten this to begin with instead of all the individual tools. Not sure if there’s any disadvantages of having the motor in the handle instead of down at the tool end or not. I’ve read a couple times that the shaft of the attachment can pop out of the main unit.

      • Yeah I saw those reviews as well about the attachment shaft popping out which was what gave me second thoughts. I suppose if it's going to break it will break within 3 years. I might just end up buying this.

    • Yes, I bought this a couple of weeks ago before this deal existed (I took advantage of the Mitre 10 price beat, but this deal is much better).
I posted the link to a video that inspired me to go for this model – I recommend giving it a watch.
After a few weeks, I’m very happy with this trimmer. It has plenty of power and doesn’t ‘bog down’ like some trimmers I’ve used in the past. The battery life is decent with the 9AH. The only thing I don’t like is that the powerhead is not universally compatible with other tools, unlike the version sold in the U.S. – DeWalt decided to make the NZ/AU version proprietary.

  • If you haven't sucked into DeWalt ecosystem, worth considering Makita's(thetoolshed.co.nz) counterpart - iirc they have more attachments(media.makita.co.nz). I got myself the power brush BR400MP, not cheap but i have a big driveway and it's friggin awesome!
