  • Must have turned up this morning, I had just checked late last night if they had a promo yet.

    • I did the same and was surprised when I saw it there this morning.

  • Was thinking it felt like it had been a while since one of these.

they never did one for January, coz capitalizing profits on ppls unwanted xmas gifts

TradeMe is a dying platform. Can't sell anything for love or money. I think the fees are too high.

    • Buyers don't generally care that fees are high when buying, it means that sellers are expecting too much probably

      • +1

I think expectations are that brand new goods need to be cheaper like Marketplace where you can make low ball offers. I used to sell heaps now I have reduced it significantly like a car worth 28K listed for 25999 , got offers like "would you accept 20K , …. Tyre kickers

Yeah extortionate fee's yet the platform feels more and more like a Temu flooded with crappy Chinese goods.

They do little to improve it, infact I think they continually are making it worse.

      • +2

If you could filter out the drop shippers and foreign sellers then you could navigate through the bad implementation of the site.

        • +1

I filter by used and New Zealand (or Auckland depending on size of item), and also Most Bids too to see popular stuff.

  • +1

Note: the standard success fee on general items is 7.9% of the sale price; this special reduces it to 3.95%.
The vehicle listing prices vary hugely so you'll need to look in the TM help section.

Sounds like a fees increase is incoming

    • +5

They increased the Ping fees recently.

      • Thanks. I didn’t know that. Did you get an email, or did they sneakily update it?

        • Yeah, it was emailed out. I've got a business tm acc though.

The 0% success fee promo they did prior to Xmas I nabbed a Gigabyte 4070 Super with 2 and a half years still left on the warranty for $850 buy now and immediately listed my 3070ti the same day so I could take advantage of the zero fees and ended up getting $750 for it, which is just $250 less than what it cost me new from PB Tech back in 2021. I don't care what people say, I love Trade Me.

    • don't ever let anyone shame you for loving trade me.

I got made redundant from my job(company liquidation), and selling used IT kit on Trademe has provided me with a bit of income while I'm in between jobs. I get much better sales, and much less time wasters than FB marketplace. Trademe has been very good to me at a difficult time in my life.

    • After selling on eBay US & AU recently, dealing with returns and holds on payments, fees ranging from 9-15% - I'm starting to appreciate trademe a lot more lol…

Plus TM has actually decent CS now, at least in my experience

      • I have some Cisco networking gears but cant even get rid of them at $45 these were a few grand to start with!. Would I be better off listing elsewhere? Same result at Market place

        • Depends, what's the model & what gear?

  • Anyone else getting frustrated with the new experience?

Some categories will default to the “old” (good) experience, and some the “new” one.
The new one has limitations like: certain changes aren’t permitted once the auction staters (eg, ‘you can’t add a buy now in app’, or can’t add a buy now at all) images get distorted.

The only workaround ive found is to create a listing in one category, set it live, then edit the category afterwards
