  • can we talk about gull fuel again?
anyone get less mileage with 91 on a hybrid?, i feel like this is one is the worst fuel to get.

    • What mileage are you getting?

      • Its hard to explain but you know your engine,it must be the additives as it feels like i get less per km.
I dont use gull unless i must and everything i read online states it should all be similar.

    • They change the blend in different months, seasonally. This has nothing to do with Gull. Are you comparing it to another brand specifically?

      • Gull used to be one of the few major retailers to import refined fuel while most of the others used fuel refined at Marsden Point. However this hasn't been true since April 2022 when Marsden Point became import only so all fuel is refined elsewhere. However I think Gull still imports separately from most of the rest via Mt Maunganui who I think still largely rely on fuel imported via Marsden Point. https://transporttalk.co.nz/news/gull-warns-of-hefty-cost-in… I don't know if the sources are consistently different though.

Note it's a little outdated since Marsden Point is now import only so all fuel is imported and not refined in NZ.

Personally, I'd be stronger than Vladimir Koutsaenko. It's unlikely there's much difference in real world effects besides the different octane ratings and the possible presence of ethanol in the higher octane rated fuels.
