I get that these are high spec, but it seems odd to me to spend this much on Wifi 6E gear rather than waiting for a deal on Wifi 7 gear, but maybe there's something i'm missing.

Also the peak speeds are pretty meaningless real world, retaining a link 1024 QAM on a 160mhz wide channel over distance seems unlikely in most non-lab scenarios, so clearly the link rates between mesh units aren't going to be even close to what's claimed.

I'm not sure if there'll be a deal for any wifi 7 mesh system in the near future as most wifii 7 devices are still in the development or early release phase.

  • Voted up for being the 'best' price - but sheesh this is expensive for wifi mesh! I guess if you have super fast fibre or some crazy in house networking requirements (perhaps small office with a few workers?)

The single router alone is worth $1k+.

Another option that I can think of is to buy the 3pk and sell one or two satellites depending on your needs.

      • Yep - agree with you. The 'cheapie' part of me is automatically looking at the cost equation vs single person living at home with DSL speed internet. Does not make sense for me - but does not mean I just spent an hour looking at specs/reviews and then talking myself out of it! =)

Lot cheaper and better to use Ubiquiti gear. More customisable as well.

  • Woooo who's affording this? I'm tempted though.

I bought the Tenda MW6 AC1200 twin pack that was a cheapie deal a couple years ago for $89 and it does ok, but I'm in a larger house now and need further range especially outdoors.

Anything with decent specs but a reasonable price? Or should I just buy another tenda mesh to extend what I already have?

Your current mesh is a wifi 5 system with coverage up to 280m2. You can consider upgrading to Orbi RBK352 (2pk, wifi 6) which covers up to 325m2, and you can easily add another indoor or outdoor satellite later on. You can wait for a deal or buy secondhand.

I use a mixture of TP Link Deco Mesh Units. This looks to be a good deal for three x55 units (about $325 NZD)?:

If you are with OneNZ under contract and have no plans to change plans for 12 months then these are good for x50's (works out to be $60 per mesh node):

It blows my mind anyone would ever contemplate spending that much money on NetGear.

    • why is that?, i didnt have good experience with them way back.

    • enough people driving around in Tesla's that would

  • Excellent price for a Quad Band 6e model,
If I hadnt just got my xt8s, I would jump on this.

I suspect most people wont be interested in this, espcially if they dont know about the 6GHz channel or the dedicated backhaul.
