Have you had much luck getting the discount, or do I need to step up my game?
Assuming that you meet the M10 15% Price Guarantee terms(mitre10.co.nz), how much success has everyone else had with the 15% discount ?

Yeah, might have been the particular store. They would only price match for me (even though it met their terms). Seems like other stores will do the 15% discount
95% successful , had so many price matches
Nz based with an address seeks to be enough
I do it a lot. Never run into trouble but have definitely noticed an increase in stringency being applied. There was a time the manager considered local to be anywhere in NZ. Now it is stretched to where you could in theory pick it up from the same day. I mean i can drive a long way in 24 hours so…
Have done it easily a dozen times, always with power tools, never had an issue. Some are sightly more thorough about checking local stock availability but that's the only minor point of friction. I don't know if it makes a difference but I always make it as easy as possible for them; competitor's price open on my phone, know where to point out the product code on both the competitor's listing and M10's product, etc.
It’s easy if you’re turn up prepared. As others have said. Competitor needs to be in stock within your local area for pick up the same day. Had the same thing with Bunnings. If it needs to be shipped in from the competitor, then they won’t price beat as you can get it from m10 instantly.
Mostly ok, but the New Lynn and Westgate stores are stingy. If its bunnings they make sure the SKUs etc all match, but if its any other store, they go out of their way to verify the shop is in Auckland, open, etc.
In Petone Mitre10 mega is very strict with local availability. Also recently POS people seems to be grumpy about it like they are giving out the discount out of their pocket.
Found Upper Hutt to be pretty good with it in the past.
I tried to price match gib as it was cheaper elsewhere and they refused.
I tried to argue same product etc and they claimed different suppliers and refused.
The only unsuccessful price match thet i have experienced. Otherwise its easy. Just show them the price of the competitor and they do it almost always.

How could they claim it was a different supplier if their product and the one you were price matching against, were both Gib?
I could understand their refusal if you were trying to price-match two different brands, but if both were the same, what would be their reasoning?
Perhaps it was in the trade area?
Excludes trade and special quotes, stock liquidations and commercial quantities.

Okay - not sure why you would have asked them to match a trade quote if you are a retail customer.
I suggest quickly reporting it to the Commerce commission. They make a big deal of the price beat policy by plastering it on the side of their stores. I have never had an issue getting them to price beat but found some stores are not as customer friendly as others.
Completed the online form took 24 hours to get back to me, however the discount code was only 24 hour long, could be longer but no issues.
But had to make sure the product was in-stock at the "mitre 10 closes to me" and there was a store selling that discounted product nearby. The deal was the new Phillips Hue Light Strip Solo, Noel Leeming had it for $154 so Mitre 10 Priced Matched it at $130.9, discounted from 179.99. (Even got Airpoints.) Had to pay shipping.
Never had a problem with instore shopping, regularly use it at Wairau Road or Albany. Saved myself heaps over the years, because Bunnings always seems to have identical items cheaper. Bonus is that M10 give Airpoints on top of the discount and I can pay with ASB True Rewards. Albany staff seem to have to write some substantial explanation on their terminal for some reason.
DIY ITS IN OUR DNA :D
Never really had a problem with it.
However, it highly can depend on the individual store with how strict they are with the rules. (Eg local, available etc)
