Any Experiences with Micromall for PV / Battery Solutions

Hi all,

I’m currently comparing LiFePO₄ battery options for our camper setup, and came across the Silver 12V 210Ah battery from MicroMall NZ (micromall.co.nz), which on paper looks like excellent value – solid BMS, decent cycle life, and a 10-year warranty, all for under $900. I'm weighing it up against Jaycar with 2 X Rovin 100Ah batteries, which looks worse on paper, and is slighly more expensive.

MicroMall is an unknown for me — does anyone have real-world experience with MicroMall, especially in terms of:

  • Product quality (e.g. batteries or solar gear)
  • Warranty handling and support
  • Delivery/DOA handling
  • General trustworthiness

At this stage I’m just looking at batteries for the camper, but within the next 6–12 months I’m considering a larger solar + storage setup for our home (possibly up to 60kWh), so trying to get a sense of whether MicroMall is a viable supplier in this context.

Any experiences or feedback would be much appreciated: especially around reliability, support, or hidden catches.

Thanks all!

Have heard excellent things about Micromall but have never used them myself, check Geekzone for first hand information, several people there have bought from them.

My father bought a 12V 160Ah (I think) LiFePO₄ battery from Micromall for his campervan. About a year later it stopped working - the BMS kept disabling the battery, complaining about the cells being unbalanced.

Their warranty process was pretty adhoc. They have an RMA process on their website, but they don't actually seem to follow that process - instead I had to ring them and they just told us they were busy and to just return it to their address. I live about 3 hours away from their store location and it turns out that it is not that simple to get a courier to pick up a lithium battery (and even if they would, it would cost quite a bit just due to the weight). I ended up needing to travel to Auckland anyway, and so it just became easier to detour on my way to personally drop it off to them.

Once they had it back, they were able to fix it in a few hours and I had to detour again to pick it up (the next morning). Apparently, a wire had come loose internally, but they also seemed to either replace or perhaps FW upgrade the BMS as the error logs were now cleared.

So, on the plus side - their batteries seem very good value for money and after the repair it has been working really well (better than when it was new, so perhaps the issue had always been there).
On the other side - returning it was a bit of a chore due to my location out of Auckland. The repair didn't cost me anything, but if it had needed to be shipped either or both directions I'm not entirely sure if they would have paid for it or not? Certainly, it was their preference that I both drop it off and then pick it up the next day.

  • Yeah, that process sounds less than ideal given we live in the South island haha

I was recommended and used Sunny Tech. Replaced 2 100Ah AGM with a single 200Ah lithium. Service there was great, the owner very helpful before purchase. No issues with the products i bought so cant comment on their after sales service. Recommended them to a friend and they bought the 300Ah one and also no issues. Bluetooth app is fine.

Would say that the micromall silver spec has discharge listed at 80A which may limit what you can power, someone in my household likes to use a hairdryer when camping and that draws around 150A
