Noel Leeming Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus Scam?

I received my item today, but it appears to be refurbished. The box is in poor condition, with significant dirt, tears, and wear. No plastic wrap. I checked the IMEI and found that it was activated in 2022, so there is no remaining warranty. I didn't notice any information about the condition of the item when I placed the order last weekend. I assumed it be brand new stock.

Haven't been dealing with Neol Lemming for a few years. Is this a scam? Or I missed anything? Can I refund cash for this order?

    Lol

It's probably is a unit that they had to refund to a previous customer or maybe a store display model but it should be sold as an ex-repair or second hand. Take it to a store and ask for a refund.

The sales person probs (profanity) up sometimes people forget to correct red tag a product (returned) and this happens lol. When I worked there it we would always double check but if there is a no red tag return label on it we would have no idea. Sales man probs should have checked if seal is open or not but some ppl are lazy lmao. Probs most likely not a scam but an accident go back and they will def give you a refund or a brand new unit lol 😂. I swear some sales ppl are so goddam lazy xd. Under cga for u have a warranty with them automatically from memory but can't see exactly remember

Hey so I worked for Noel’s.

No. It’s not a scam. What most likely happened is they returned the item but did not register it as a return.

It’s entirely possible they did, but the red return sticker just came off too.

A LOT of the time salespeople don’t care and feel you’re wasting their time with returns so I could see these mistakes still being made half a decade since I was there

You can’t refund cash if you didn’t pay cash fyi. If you paid with a card they’ll do that.

  • Interesting comment above. I'd take people change their mind and return the item so the box may not be flash. Can the shop reseal the box and sell after they are opened? I thought that the item is brand new as long as the samsung seal is not broken.

    • Interesting comment above

Which comment are you referring to?

    • So the way it works explicitly is there’s a box that pops up when you process a return where you should scan a return sticker, which has a unique barcode and pop that on the product. That does all the backend stuff including registering a cust return as stock that’s separate to the regular SOH (doesn’t show on website etc)

A lot of people just exit that screen and will get to it later, easy to fall through the cracks. That said Noel’s have checks and balances afterwards including daily reports to stop what’s happened with op from happening.

I could talk at length about the issues with Noel Leeming but their stock management (when they actually have it) is excellent and has significantly benefitted from their digital transformation

What shocks me is those tablet boxes have no charger so they’re only about 2 pens thick, so how you can possibly not notice it’s opened when you pick the stock, I don’t know.

    • So like in my experience if it's change of mind brand new unopened seal not broken no sign of DMG on the box it would go back as normal stock but it depends, some strict managers would even put those as red sticker returns.
But it the seal is broken then 100% it's needs to go back as cust return red sticker returns.

What can happen also if you ordered it online some lazy a$$ store room person can't be bothered to find a fix boxed one or it was the only one in stock so instead of calling you to explain what happened they send you whatever the hell they have on them lmao.

    • And absolutely not no one should ever reseal a box that is beyond fudged up which opens the sale person up to big trouble lol.

Once the seal is broken they should never try to show that it hasn't been broken/opened before.

Should def have a red return tag on it if the seal has been opened.

I just got mine today. It's brand new, the Samsung seal was not broken.

    • Good to know this isn't a common issue. I guess I was just unlucky this time :(

Returned the item and received the refund the next day. Not too bad but it was a really poor experience. The salesperson tried to convince me it be brand new, which was clearly not the case. There was no apology for wasting my time, nor any official communication regarding the return process.

    Thanks guys for the comments.

    • Surprised they would fight it assuming it was an apple product you can see the date of first use in the settings which would confirm it.

  • Just collected mine and it's also brand new. Same as the others in i suspect it was a return that was processed through as sealed not open.

  • Exact same thing happened to me today. Went to pick my Samsung A8 Tablet and noticed that the seal was broken straight away. Lady told me that it was ex-display device and she can give me further $30 off. So i paid $90 in total for this tablet. Came back home. Booted it up and it was definitely not an ex-display. 100% a return item as I can see that someone is logged into the trade me account and there are bunch of other apps and files downloaded.
