Check google reviews then u will find out 😂
I looked. 6 reviews, all one star, saying how bad the connection was, and the service is terrible … allegedly 🤪
I've been with EconoFibre on their Fibre Max plan (950 down / 450 up) for about 4 years now and found their service excellent and have hardly had any downtime - I work from home so I need to be connected at all times. Their pricing is good.
If you're after a good ISP with a cheap static IP, I'd encourage folks to check out Quic. Quic are the current choice of myself and many other geekier folks who want things like static IP's.
You can find plenty of discussions along with referral and free signup codes etc over at Geekzone, e.g. https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=194&topicid=31…
Does bigpipe still exist? I remember I used to be with Bigpipe previously because they charged a $50 one-off fee for a static while everyone else charged monthly ($10 or more)
Now I just use DDNS (assuming your ISP isn't enforcing cgnat)
What happens when the deal is up? Back to a dynamic real IP address or off to CG-NAT hell?
The cynic in me says that they have had an oops with their CG-NAT and this is just a way to spin it as a promo until they fix it.
They'll charge you monthly for it, presumably.
My assumption is that it's a method of binding customers to their service, if you need a static IP, moving off one is often very hard or the greater of two evils of dealing with a shitty/expensive ISP.
The email I received from them states it's free until 31/12/2026 after which it automatically change back to Dynamic IP. Looks like a $20/month fee if you want to continue with a static IP
Nope this is a trap to get more people…. After the free period if you do not continue with the static IP at $20 per month you will revert back to the CGNAT pool.
That's very expensive compared to others with static IP offerings.
They dont use CGNAT though.
YIKES…. Just did online chat with them…. After the free period they are asking for $20 per month for a static IP and anybody that doesn't go on it goes straight back onto CGNAT.
Big fat no from me.
Thats not what the terms say. I am on a dynamic IP at the moment with no CGNAT.
"After this date, the free benefit will automatically expire. And then, the static IP will be changed to a dynamic IP."
That's not what the online chat agent said on Friday.
Are they any good?
