This is a Q60 with a different stand, a model that Rtings don't rate very highly https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/q60d-q60-q60dd-qle…

    From Rtings -
The Samsung QE1D is a Samsung store online exclusive that performs the same (as the Q60D)

The Samsung Q60D is middling for mixed usage. It doesn't really have any strengths, as it's mediocre, at best, in most things it does. It's bright enough in SDR, with passable color volume, to look fine in well-lit rooms, such as when watching sports. Unfortunately, reflections still end up being distracting due to the TV's sub-par reflection handling. Its black levels are poor due to the lack of a local dimming feature, and it looks dim in HDR, so home theater purists won't be satisfied, even if its slow response time does lead to a very good stutter performance. The TV is not responsive enough for a good gaming experience, especially as it's limited to 60Hz and lacks VRR. Its image processing is mediocre, but it does upscale SD content quite well, so it's not a bad choice to pair with your old DVDs. It's not so good to pair with online streaming services, however, as its low-quality content smoothing is poor, so there's noticeable artifacting left in the feed.

The Samsung Q60D is a very basic TV that is middling overall. It's substantially overpriced for a TV lacking modern features, and its picture quality is nothing special. You're better off buying the better and cheaper Hisense U6/U6N or TCL Q6/Q651G QLED, as they outperform the Samsung in most ways.

I can't speak for these newer models, but I did own one of the earlier model Q60's that came free with a bbq we bought, and the picture on it wasn't good at all, especially when the room was dark. Unless you really want a Samsung tv then I'd just go with a budget Hisense or something for a similar price.

Thanks for this , it's a good price but perhaps for someone appy to spend a bit more can get a much better TV! I guess I'll wait…

      • Yeah TCL and Hisense would offer more at 1.5k, they can easily beat samsung and sony entry level TVs at this price range.
TCL runs Google TV, which is far better than Hisense’s OS unless you plan to use Apple TV or Chromecast.
Have a look TCL C755, it was under 1.5k a few weeks ago, I’d expect it to go lower as 2025 models are coming out.

        • How would you know if they are better in new zealand?
Ive never seen reviews or feedback on such models from this country so tend to avoid.

I Just stick with the high end models. Lg. Sony oleds. Sony X90 series etc.

          • @fsmith: Yup that’s fair point. They ship different models, US gets the best ones, followed by UK/EU, and then the rest like AU and NZ. There are some reviews from AU but nothing comparing to rtings.

At1.5k, you are basically looking at Sony B3 or Samsung QE1D, and they don’ really offer much…60hz, no local dimming, less than 500 nits peak brightness, 20w sound output whereas C755 offers 120hz, 500 local dimming zones, 1300 nits brightness, 50w sound output.
Sure having a good spec on paper doesn’t make it a good tv, but when the spec difference is that much, it’s nearly impossible for them to beat this. Even the image processing is not great on B3 as they don’t have Sony’s XR chip, and samsung is even worse…The panels are all sourced from TCL or others in China.

But yeah, if you are happy to spend more, then Sony B7, LG C4, Samsung S90 will be great choices.

  • I bought a 75 inch version of this tv, very happy with it. Great colour, polished UI, some extra channels and even small details like the built in solar charger on remote control.
