Z Petrol / U-Go

For many of us you may have noticed Z seems to not budge on any of the petrol discount days for quite some time now and we haven't been able to purchase cheap fuel through sharetank for a while.

I found out today there's a new station in Onehunga, Auckland called U-Go. I did some digging and it's part of the Z brand but lower cost due to being unmanned. Theres another one in Hillsborough, Auckland.

So I wonder, is Z trying to become the new BP fighting for their premium customers. They'll be like New World and Pak N Save, 4 square targeting specifically at all the segments of the market getting a bigger market share. And they'll reduce costs by changing to unmanned stations.

    I heard that the Z Station that closed down on East Coast Rd near Milford (North Shore, Auckland) is also being remodelled as a U-Go. They even changed the fuel lines, so maybe they were too old to re-use?

    It seems like they are converting the smaller Z stations only. So yes the older ones. The Blockhouse Bay one is converted to a U-Turn Go too (what? lol I thought that was the branding when I first saw it hahaha U turn goto cheaper Gull, Paknsave or Costco)

    Caltex Epsom rebranded too. Perhaps dropping the Caltex brand altogether

      That's good news, when I saw the Caltex station close didn't think it was going to be rebranded.

    I was hoping the new station would still work with sharetank and Z rewards. But alas looks like it wont be the case :(

    Can almost see this going down the gurgler. What can they offer that will be better than the already well established self serve brands?
    I already don't use Z and Caltex since flybuys has gone.
