Bose QuietComfort SC Headphones - Black $199 + $5.99 Delivery @ JB Hi-Fi

550

Great price for some great headphones. Lowest price ever i believe.

The only difference between this and the standard quiet comfort is the soft carry case

Edit:
For those on the fence or want to test them out, there is a price match option at Bose(bose.co.nz) with the benefit of their '90 day risk free trial'

Looks like Noel Leeming(noelleeming.co.nz) has now matched the price

Update: not available in store for pickup, deliveries only.

^ Cheapies slogan (and I should know)

If anyone is tossing up between this and sony xm4,
I prefer these because the ear cups are a bit deeper and more comfy so I can wear them for longer. The NC and battery is great, though not as good as xm4. Sony has the better app imo.

Anyways, at this price it's a no-brainer haha

Got a pair for a flight to Japan this year.
    Loved them.
They will be a must with flying imo.

  • +2

Thanks. Grabbed a pair. Moving into a shared office at work soon so these will be really handy.

  • +2

That's a really good deal. Comfort and noise cancelling are both much better than the WH-1000XM4 or XM5 in my opinion. A lot of reviews online also show the NC is ranked very high as well and better than the WH series, which I do agree. The ANC on my WH-1000XM5 sucks because it's dynamically adjusted and you can't manually adjust it anymore. In some situations, I can hear noise leakage despite having ANC on. But never really had a problem with my Bose QC. I used to rave about the WH-1000XM3 and ever since the XM4 and XM5, they just started sucking more and more.

Thanks OP. Just grabbed a pair for my dad.

  • +3

Thanks, don't have overear headphones and was always wanted a decent NC pair, at this price was a no brainer so just bought them.

  • Damn if these had a microphone I'd be all over them.

    • +3

I believe they do have a mic?

      • To be fair though, I've found mics to be one of Bose's weakest features. I ended up moving from Bose QC earbuds to Airpods due to the mic quality being appaling for a $500 product

    • +1

      Audio cable with in-line microphone

      • +1

As well as inbuilt mic on the headphone itself

        • Oooh their website didn't say that. I might get these then. My Galaxy Buds 2 are dying.

I have Somy XM5, which are great. However, I find I get really hot ears when using them for extended periods like long haul flights. Anyone have these Bose that can comment on long term ear comfort?

    • +1

I have QC15 at my desk, and QC35 iis for everything else, the design hasn't changed, just Bluetooth and Li-Ion now.

Both are the best headphones I have owned, I often find on-ear headphones squash my ears and get uncomfortable after a couple hours, but I've never had a comfort issue wearing these all day whilst I work as they don't touch my ears at all.

Sound quality are excellent, and ANC completely blocked out the plane when I flew the last couple times, you forget how noisy planes are until you take them off.

    • Never had discomfort issues with my QC35s (Very similar fit).
Happy worn long haul for 20hrs and still had 30% battery left.
The XM5s are a bit more bulky so i suspect maybe the extra material is preventing the heat from escaping.

Cheers OP, got a price match at Noel Leeming PN for local pick up.

  • +4

    NL price matched

  • Has anyone upgraded from QC 35 II to these and thought it was worth it?

    • +4

No point they are basically the same product.
If you want an actual upgrade that would be the Ultras.

  • Just checking is there anywhere on the website stating when this deal ends?

    • +3

It says 30 April on the image on the home page and Noel Leemings site says 29 April for theirs

  • +3

Thanks! Ordered from Bose directly so I can make use of the 90 day trial. Price matched for $199.

    • +1

The trials worth it, I found the clamp force too strong with the Bose with my head, tried it for a couple of weeks and returned them and got the Sony XM5.

      • I also sold my qc35 for the same reason. Do you think xm5 are better.

        • +1

Comfort is most important, I personally found both the QC and QC ultra too tight for my head. The XM5 for me seem to have better features and were more comfortable.

I'd recommend trialing both and go from there. Bose has 90 days, Sony has 30 days no questions asked return policy.

    • +1

did the price go down to 199 or did they say they will refund the difference AFTER you buy?

      • They refund the difference after purchase (actually after delivery)

        • Have you got yours delivered yet ?

  • +1

Really good price for these headphones, have just picked a pair up for my Wife. Thanks for the post

  • Can anyone comment on how these stack up against the XM3s from Sony? Have seen a few comments relative to the XM4s and XM5s, so tossing up whether to bite the bullet and replace my XM3s.

    • My partner is still rocking her XM3s, you could just get them and trial them and return them if you dont like them (only through the Bose site - get them to pricematch).

      • I'm still using mine, and checking reviews for these I really don't see much reason to buy them. The comments about the build quality of the Bose is especially off-putting

  • How much are these typically? Looking for some gym overhead headphones

  • Would you choose this for $199 or the Sony WH-1000XM5 for $320 ? Tempted to wait for the Sony to go lower.

    • what's your use case?

      • +1

I guess most of it is listening to music/ watching videos and small part of it would be for Online calls.

        • +1

Sony has the better wireless mic for calls. Bose is comfier and you can wear for longer periods of time for videos and that. I'd say if you're on the go and travelling a bit, go for Bose as they fold and are way more portable. If not, then Sony for the better NC/sound qual?

          • @Beepbeep01: @Beepbeep01 thanks! that's some great insight! would you say the sounds quality is great enough to warrant paying the extra $120 ( on sale ) ?

            • +2

@RJA7: i own the bose qc, i gifted dad the xm5 so I've tried both. I think the $120 extra probably doesn't merit buying it, though I did enjoy the app controls much more. You should go to a store to try them both to see how you feel.

Thanks was meaning to buy from NL with the welcome voucher, but was really busy. So in the end I had to pay $6 for delivery :-( … I did however use a shopback $5 voucher and a JBHifi $20 voucher (from a former price error).

Back order - current ETA is 1-2 weeks
