Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 ($229 + $5 Delivery) @ Heathcote Appliances

30

This is what I use daily at the moment. $229 is not cheapest price ever, but it's good enough if you were planning to get one.

Although it's from Vodafone, it's not actually locked to the Vodafone network, it works on 2degrees as well (needs APN update). But it won't work on Spark / Skinny

can always try warehouse stationery to beat it by 5%

    • They won't always give 5% if it is at their cost price.

      • Cost price or not, if they don't keep their price promise, then they are breaking the law.

  • Is it not locked to Vodafone?, my friend bought one a few months ago and it came with a vodafone sim and free $29 one month plan we just assumed it was locked to vodafone, but would rather be on 2 degrees.

    • Two of my friends are on 2degrees with this phone, it's fine :)

yes these phones are unlocked have tried with 2degrees with no problems

  • thanks it good to know its not locked. I went to warehouse stationery to see if they would price beat by 5%, I showed them the price shown on the website, but she said they dont match online prices it has to be instore. I said that they have stores so the price would be instore as well, they say but we need a mailer showing them the item at that price or I need to go to the store take a picture of the item in store on sale and bring that to them. Kind of hard when we dont have that store in blenheim.

I then tried Noel Leeming price match, but the guy got out of it by saying the phone in noel leeming is a bundle..the phone with a 16gb memory card (which actually wasnt clearly shown instore that it was a bundle except of you look at there coding in fine print which says -BU-MEM which means bundles with memory card.

So they do try and make price matchs very difficult. I went home looked online at Noel Leeming and they do actually sell the ultra with no memory card for the same price…but in the item code it has -BU which means bundle (maybe sim bundle), and they would likely use that to get out as well.

    • They're just giving you excuse not to price match when clearly it is part of their company policy to do so. Warehouse Stationery never gave me problem when price beating, they HAVE to price beat it if there is evidence that some other 'local' store are cheaper - if not go through the terms and conditions with them.

PS. The Warehouse does price matching too. Show them the company policy and they will do it without a fuss.

      • Yeah, they will find anything to get out of it. I also went to the warehouse after as I saw on their website they have a 10% price beat policy, but like other stores because the product at warehouse was a bundle with a sim card its technically not the 'Exact' same product and won't price beat.

  • For clarity the cheaper smart version is Vodafone locked, but this higher end model is not.

Both are very good value for money, easily the best bang for buck I reckon.
