    • Hi, let's discuss. Sending you a DM

  • How slow is the “Fast” plan? 10mbps seems like weak 4G speeds, maybe even 3G? Is that the same as when other telcos slow your speed once you hit the cap?

    • It's fast enough to watch some 1080p youtube videos. Anything more than that it's a NO
It's about 8 times fast than 1.2Mbps when you hit cap with those plan with 5GB / 10GB etc max speed data

    • Works fine for me streaming music, videos, social media. Minimal buffering. App downloads/updates are slow.

    T&Cs for hotspoting:

    HOTSPOT (Personal Hotspot / Tethering)

Except for Starter, each Plan has a Hotspot high-speed allowance (cap). Once you reach your Plan’s Hotspot high-speed cap, your Hotspot will continue to work, but it will be throttled to 1.2Mbps for the remainder of the month (or until your Hotspot allowance resets). The Starter Plan has no Hotspot high-speed allowance.

    Your Plan’s Hotspot high-speed allowance:‍

Starter: 5GB at max speed including any Hotspot use.
Fast: 25GB of Hotspot at max speed, then 1.2Mbps.
Faster: 50GB of Hotspot at max speed, then 1.2Mbps.
Fastest: 250GB of Hotspot at max speed, then 1.2Mbps.

    • Didn't realize this was a thing, was wondering if I could replace my home wifi with the max plan

      • +2

        T&Cs for personal moblie usuage.
However there are cheapies that have used it in otherways, then some smart cookies contact MM and ask how they can put the sim in their router…
        next minute hotspot caps.
This is why we can't have nice things.

  • +2

Reckon that Kogan is better bang for buck, especially with their BOGO (or close to) specials

    • +5

Not sure if this is ragebait….
but how is kogan beating bang for buck on unlimited personal moblie data at $16.62 per person per month or ($11.63 for Primate)?

      • +1

Unlimited sure, but pretty slow speeds (<10mb).

For the "large" kogan pack (15GB 5G per month) with BOGO is $13.75 p/p. Cheaper (not accounting for primate because thats a paid premium) and faster. Unless you dont have wifi at home or work, and watch a shite load of reels all day, its unlikely that the average person will be capping 15gb per month.

        • +7

I am on 15GB a month, I have to be mindful of the data usage and set YT to 480p on data otherwise it does run out. I'd rather the 10mbps unlimited, at least it means I don't have to even think about it.

Honestly if you want to boil it down, $14.55 a month for unlimited 50mbps is hella bang for buck compared to $13.75 a month for 15GB.

Edit: surely you can get primate trial for free and cancel after you've paid for this

        • +2

"pretty slow speeds (<10mb)"……"Unlikely that the average person will be capping 15gb per month"

          Oh…found the misunderstanding between us.

I view <10mb fast for moblie & I was anywhere from 10-30gb per month…. I also have fiber, so that was just outside / work data.

Well if Kogan is bang for your buck, then fair enough. I do apologies.

          • +2

@Fox419: fair enough! if you 're maxing 15gb then for sure unlimited is better suited.

  • +1

Cheaper if primate.. just got me the 2x 50Mbps connections for 349$, cause im existing they just add on to my current plan.

    • really? so mine expire around black friday, if i buy this now it will just add on to whatever time i already have left?

      • +1

bought the vouchers cause i have plans, i added it only my current plan which expires in November, its just adds it on. from there site "If you’re currently on a 365-day plan, your new plan will automatically kick in once your existing plan ends. No wasted days. No overlap." would like to know if you stack them, so if you bought to could i have 2 years stacked up.

        • did you try stacking 2 yrs?

          • @huffboy: This would be amazing if they did! Someone let us know 😅

          • +2

@huffboy: i have tried stacking 2 years, unfortunately it did not work.

            • @Okra: What happened when you tried? I want to do the same thing.

        • Sorry can someone confirm, if my plan ends in November (from black friday last year) can I buy one now and it extends to November 2027? Is that what I'm reading here? Just to clarify, thanks haha

          • @itshayden: That is correct. Your new plan won't start until your current plan has finished.

  • Anyone with primate wanna split the faster plan? DM me

  • Do you know if existing plan holders can buy this deal? It say otherwise
This offer is only available to new customers. Current customers can get this offer (It takes me to regular plan not 1+1)

    • +1

Yeah existing plan can do it via vouchers
      https://www.mightyape.co.nz/mn/buy/mighty-ape-mighty-mobile-…

      So it is either:
      2 x Sims (new users)
      2 x Esims (new users)
      2 x vouchers (existing users).

I don't know if you can mix or match, you will have to contact their support.

      Vouchers:
Our Plan Voucher is designed specifically for existing Mighty Mobile customers who want to grab a great deal now and roll seamlessly into their next plan.
Instead of choosing an eSIM or physical SIM, you’ll receive a 13-digit voucher code. Simply log in to your Mighty Mobile account and enter the code to redeem it.
If you’re currently on a 365-day plan, your new plan will automatically kick in once your existing plan ends. No wasted days. No overlap.
If you’re on a monthly plan, your new plan will activate once your current plan finishes. No need to order a new SIM or transfer your number.
It’s the easiest way to lock in a promotion today and move straight into your next Mighty Mobile plan when your current one wraps up.

Vouchers must be activated within one month of purchase.

      • +1

Free plan must match the purchased plan.

Happy to go half with someone on the fastest plan.

    I don't have a membership

  • It was $800 last year now $750. Strange….

    • They introduced hotspot restrictions.

      • So, currently I'm on a Monthly Faster plan and use the hotspot a lot (also friends) as I no longer have wifi at home.
Will the yearly plan make the hotspot slower than I have currently? Or have I already got the throttled speed?

        • This is from a previous mightymoblie email.

"From 4 May 2026, Mighty Mobile will be introducing hotspot limits across our plans. This change will apply to all Mighty Mobile customers.".
So pretty much your same user experience as you have now.

          • @Fox419: Thank you. I haven't noticed any difference :)

Edit: BUT my plan rolls over on the 1st of the month so 1st May it probably was on the original hotspot. From 1st June the plan will be throttled so may notice later this month :(

  • +2

Typical! Waited all year before topping up (cos of my credit expiring yesterday), and bought just a week ago for me and my wife.

  • +1

I just bought. The receipt shows 2 x plans, but I only got 1 voucher code. Do you use the code twice?

    • Had the same happen to me, was able to get the second code from a MightyApe chat agent - they asked me for the one code I received and billing address.

  • Can someone explain below. Does that mean new customer has to activate the plan within 1 month of purchase? If so what is the point of 3 months for sims?

SIMs and eSIMs must be activated within 3 months of purchase. Vouchers must be activated within 1 calendar month of purchase.

    • The sim number will expire after 90 days and will need to get new ones.

      • For new customers, you have to activate the plan within 1 month ? so sim expiry is not relevant?

        • No the sim expiry is not relevant for new customers.

I thought this would be good for my kids mobile plan as the current one they have (Kogan) expires at the end of August.
However, because they would be new customers I would only have a month to activate so I need to crunch the numbers to see if it's still worthwhile sacrificing about 5 weeks of Kogan.

          • +1

@bigcheese: I am in same boat. I have 2 kogan accounts expiring on 31st August. So getting this would mean I will have to sacrifice some part of the plan.

            • +1

@ace310: A portion of us is like that I think. I'm thinking of moving to 2 degrees, or contemplating using a 2nd sim for the data until (hopefully) black friday bogof

            • @ace310: Response from Mighty Mobile Support:

"As your current plan ends on August I would suggest you to please purchase the plan along with a new e-sim as if you purchase the plan with new e-sim you can activate the plan anytime within 3 months from the purchase date.

You can directly purchase the plan from our website and keep it with you and once your current plan ends you can connect back to us and we'll assist you accordingly in adding the plan on your existing number."

  • I'm keen to split a faster/fastest.

    • would you be keen on a voucher for faster ?

  • keen to split a faster plan if someone has primate …

    • send a msg if you have one lol Thank you

preferably a voucher as already have an eSIM

  • I don't currently have Primate but there is a free trial offer available. Would that work to buy the mobile plan and then cancel Primate… or is that too cheeky?

    • yes, thats what most do.

      • Thanks. I see that Mighty Ape are also on Shopback

    • I think its too cheeky they already said in terms and condition if you do that than they will charge the whole price of the plan. Please read terms and conditions.

      • +3

I thought ts n cs meant full price for the following year if you cancel

      • I had a look at the T&Cs and couldn't see this. Do you have a link / reference?

I want to make sure I am not caught out.

Please read thru thus terms and conditions

          • @Vik0404: Thanks, read throught and i couldn't see anything that would impact the mighty moblie offer.
            Maybe i missed it.
I reached out to the CSR team via the chat bot, confirmed with CSR that the 365day offer and only using the 2 week trail period is fine.
However when it comes to auto renewing plan, that is where the difference would be, aka not having primate.

  • I have a friend which would be happy to share a plan with but she doesn't have a SIM and I just need a voucher. So does she buy $25 starter plan and then add voucher before the month is up. Typical, she is heading off overseas for 3 weeks very soon so the SIM wont be needed and the starter plan will be effectively a wasted month as I only have a month to activate (though could wait till 21st June to buy)

  • These plans do not include pixts/mms, correct ?

    • think you only get 100 per month

      • +1

1200 for year. Not per month.

    • Included Call Value:
1200 MMS to standard New Zealand mobiles are also included.

      What’s not included:
MMS to international numbers (including Australia).

  • Anyone keen on splitting a Faster voucher (have sim already)? Please DM 😊
