Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 - $199 @ Warehouse Stationery

40

Although it's from Vodafone, it's not actually locked to the Vodafone network, it works on 2degrees as well (needs APN update). But it won't work on Spark / Skinny

    Thanks guys.

Have been very very impressed with the baby brother to this, the Vodaphone Smart.
Good Android version, fast and well spec'd.
Paid to unlock that one for 2degrees use, but like that this one is not locked in the first place.
If you are on Vodafone/2degrees, these are the best bang for your buck that I've seen.

Side note, maybe others can elaborate, but 2Degrees and Vodafone don't seem to share the bed as closely as they once did, with Vodafone having their own towers only in places. Causes an issue when out in the country most, where signal can be lost even though a Vodafone phone has good strength in that same area. In town seems to be fine, but suspect 2Degrees may have their own towers there?

    • 2Degrees has a roaming agreement with Vodafone, but only in places where 2Degrees don't have 'official' coverage. However there's a divergence in terms of what is officially covered and what is actually covered. 2Degrees always had coverage issues since the very beginning and that's the reason why I dropped them a few years ago.

      • Yes on the Vodafone Smart (this deals baby brother) it comes up as roaming to Vodafone in places.
I'm told there are no roaming charges, but the wording is scary, like you're going to incur those huge international bills…
