  • Whilst these bands are friggen awesome for the price, please be aware that the heart rate measurement requires you to open an app and stand there with your wrist to your chest for 10s or so. It's a one off measurement that you have to initiate each time in the app.

    • Really? That's crazy. Why's that?

      • Ask the developers.

It's not a continuous logging point, just a one off check initiated manually via the app when you want it.

        • I see, so it's not like an ongoing measurement like my watch, it's more just a feature to move more stock with no practical real time use?

        • @Shaw: It does make cool flashing green lights when you move your arm at night though.

I believe it's used somehow also to provide more accurate sleep data, but your assessment above matched my own experience.

        • @Jaxson:

Disappointing really. Expected more from Xiaomi than a useless gimmick feature. I had the original band, used it until I got my watch, but haven't touched it since.

        • @Shaw: if you download the mi band tools app it takes periodic measurements and works well. its just the xiaomi app that's rubbish

    • each time you open the app?

      • No, each time to want to go through the procedure to measure and record the value.

  • One positive thing is that mine lasts almost a month on a single charge, not 10 days as stated. The unlocking feature stopped working when I updated my Xiaomi phone ROM. There is a free Asus app to measure heart rate that is close enough to what the Band 1S gives you. You simply lay your index finger on the back camera lens and flash and the flash fires several times which is apparently enough to give you a HR reading.

There is also a feature that tells you how long your deep sleep lasted. I compared it to the Pebble and the difference is huge. Pebble is far more generous :)
