McDonald's New Zealand celebrates its 40th birthday tomorrow and are rolling back the menu to 1976.

At McDonald's Queen Street (Auckland), Big Macs will be priced at 75c and more original favourites will be selling at original prices.

This could be a great opportunity for a cheap lunch for Aucklanders in the CBD tomorrow.

The first McDonald's restaurant in New Zealand opened on June 7 1976 in Porirua.

Birthday offers valid only from 10am - 2pm June 7 2016 at McDonald's Queen Street (Auckland).

      I bet it's only one per order. at 75c for a Big Mac the staff would never be able to cope with the orders if people start buying more than one.

    So in 40 years, the price has multiplied by nearly 10 times. Pity they are not doing it in Porirua, where the 1st McDs started. I guess there is a reason for that, and presume it is purely an advertising stunt.The free publicity from it will probably pay for it, and they will get the most publicity with the media in Auckland.

      Na, roughly the same price after inflation:

      Food that cost $0.75 in quarter 1 of 1976 would have cost $6.25 in quarter 1 of 2016

    This deal us much worse than the other one, in the other you pay 60c and get a big Mac and a soft serve. Here you pay 75c you get a big Mac only at one store.

    Who would get this deal. Go to any other McDonalds in the country buy a 60c Soft Serve and get one FREE. 60c is cheaper than 75c and you don't even have to wait in long lines.

      Apparently they had the whole menu range marked down to original prices.
