        Are they APple refurbished, or third party refurbished? If they are Apple refurbs aren't they supposed to be as good as a new one, as they replace new ones with refurbs when they need a repair, so they get new batteries and cases. Do the 1day ones get that and are they proper apple refurbs?

      There is a new model coming out in the next few months, which could be the reason for the discount. $1400 is a heck of a lot to pay for a phone, that could instantly be worthless if you accidentally drop it in water. I would add on the price of Apple care if paying that price, for insurance in the case of an accident, because it does happen, even if you think you are going to be very careful.
