Carl's Jr - Jr Chicken $2 + 2 Chicken Wings & Chips $3.90 + Upsize Combo for Free + More

110
GOLARGE$2JRCHICKEN$2SUNDAEWINGSNACKCLASSICDUO

A bit late since ending on Monday but guess there's still the weekend. Note that although they look like cutout coupons, the details suggest you don't need to supply them, unless "or mention in store as many times as you like" means something different to Carl's Jr marketing team (or store managers) then it does to ordinary people.

Full list of coupons:
COUPON/FREEFRIES free fries with Memphis BBQ burger purchase
COUPON/GOLARGE buy any combo and upsize to large for free
COUPON/$2JRCHICKEN
(COUPON/REALDEAL Jr Double Cheeseburger, Jr Chicken Burger, Small Fries and a small drink (same as on their website and already on ChoiceCheapies)
COUPON/$2SUNDAE Add a sundae for just $2
COUPON/WINGSNACK 2 chicken wings & chips $3.90
COUPON/CLASSICDUO Western Bacon cheese buger, classic Carl, small fries & drink $13.00

Most interesting to me is the Jr Chicken for $2. It's only $1 (albeit 50%) cheaper than normal (according to website). I don't know how small it is, but a good opportunity to try one. Probably not a bad deal if you're just looking for a snack now that BK got rid of their Chicken Grabba, the Joseph Parker deal expired etc. (Wings are normally $5 for 3 without chips according to the same flyer.)

I don't normally pay much attention to Carl's Jr coupons as I don't buy burgers much and when I do generally just get the burgers as I cook my own chips. However happened to notice these due to the Jr Chicken. (I've had the mailer for 2-3 weeks, got lost with other stuff.)

Cheers

  • Where did you get the coupons from? Are they from a mailer or a newspaper?

Mailer, I've had it for a few weeks I think, was clearing out papers when I noticed it. (I've clarified my original post now.)

It's actually 2 pages back and front (or one nearly A3 folded page if you prefer), there's four sets of the coupons on part of one page and another 4 (well 3+the advert) on another page. Rest of the pages are just advertising limited time items or normal menu items so I cut it out.

Edit: Should mention I'm fairly sure it's not location limited. The mailer does include a list of what I assume is all their locations in another part: Albany, Auckland Airport, Avondale, Bush Inn, Horby, Lincoln Road, Mangere, Otahuhu, Pakuranga, Pukekohe, Queen Street, St Johns, Manukau, Takanini, Upper Harbour Highway, Frankton, Rotorua, Hastings, Gisborne, Palmerston North and there's nothing anywhere suggesting it's limited. Meaning I guess it's even valid at the airport. (Presuming the items are part of the menu.)

Just went to the Lincoln Road store and had no problem getting 3 of the Jr Chickens. I did show the coupon but the lady serving me took a quick look at it (I think getting the code) and didn't try to take it. Since it's not new I'm assuming all outlets must know of them by now so I suspect you shouldn't have problems.

I actually prefer them to the Crispy Chickens that were $5 for 2 at BK as part of the Joseph Parker deal. (And I suspect this was on at the same time.) Probably because the pattie is slightly thicker, I personally found the Crispy Chicken pattie to be fairly poor. Maybe not the best measure but I don't think they're much smaller as they're about the same weight.

no problems either with the Mangere store. Just show them the phone.

    • Today I was at the drive thru and told them about the coupon asked for 5 Jr Chickens but told there's a limit of four per customer. I guess "mention in store as many times as you like" could be interpeted to mean you have to make multiple visits but seems a bit extreme to me especially as there's no mention anywhere of any limits. Unless you're always limited to four Jr Chickens even without coupon but I find that unlikely.

Didn't bother to argue and just asked for four instead. Was just before closing so I popped inside and got another 2. Due to time, was served by the same guy who I'm pretty sure recognised me but he made no comment.

  • These are nationwide coupons. I got the mailer in Feilding and have used it a couple of times at the Palmerston North store with no problems.

My favourite order is the Jr Chicken Burger combo for $5 and then upsize to a large combo (COUPON/GOLARGE) for free. The drink cup is huge. You can fit 32 fluid ounces (946 ml) of soft drink in it and then free refills if you want from the soda fountain.

I've also tried the ice cream sundae for $2. They are quite tasty with the hand-scooped ice cream and cheaper than McDonald's or Burger King soft serve ones.

    • Think the critical information left out re drink cup is the

      • 75g sugar
      • 19 teaspoons of sugar
      • 1300kj per refill

So consider carefully before digging into those 'free' refills!

1511 kJ burger + 2000 kJ chips = atleast @5000 kJ per meal.

Given recommended daily intake of about 10000kJ, wouldn't want this too many times a week

      PS I didn't downvote this.

    • Well for me, soft drinks are even easier than chips. In Auckland can easily get 2.25L of Coke etc for $2.50 since those specials are common, probably less per L if you stock up enough. L&P $1 for 1.5L every so often.

I guess with over 2 whole cups it's not bad compared to $2.50 2.25L Coke since chips probably cost over 50c (considering energy costs+oil+time). Of course if you want to eat out it's not an option but for various reasons I actually normally prefer eating at home. I also often have more chips then provided although IIRC large combos in Carl Jr are a fairly decent serving. I did do the Independence day thing but only got about 3-4 servings of fries (was by myself).

    • Agreed. Eating out at any takeaway store is an occasional treat. My drink of choice is Coke Zero, so has no sugar but does have sweetener.

The servings at Carl's Jr are quite generous and the Large Jr Chicken Combo was certainly enough for lunch.

  • wish they had this in Wellington :(
