Recommend researching above link and seller feedback before embarking on this deal.

  • Nice price, would be much cheaper if they offered a reasonable shipping price though.

  • Getting close to the min GST so wouldn't want to purchase anything else to go with it.

    • +1

its posted through global shipping which acts as a broker, if there is any tax to pay it gets paid when you buy it and dsnt get stopped by customs for tax

    • Still $85 off the threshold though, wouldn't be concerned at this price.

      • Rate My Duty says GST over $60 is payable. At NZ$315, RMD says GST is $47. Duty varies depending on the item. Dollar thresholds are just a guide and include any additional freight costs.

        • Yea, in this case it's a long way off, $85 as mentioned, since the threshold is higher for electronics due to the way it's structured. If it were clothing, it'd be well over.

Iirc shipping is only added to the GST amount, not the duty amount.

        • nope, its $400

        • @mikeperro1:

Yea, that's what Jay wrote, just a different way of putting it.

        • @Shaw:

none of this applies anyway, the sender in this case pays the tax if there is any, you pay them when you buy and they pay it.

        • @quote:

Yea, in this case. But I reckon there is a lot of misinformation surrounding GST/Duty and a lot of people still getting stung without realising.

        • @Shaw:

not helped by the fact that when they (ebay) first started doing this you would pay them the tax and then customs would want it again, not sure if customs was getting it twice or if ebay just wasnt paying it, but seems to work now

        • @quote:

Really? Did they accept evidence that it'd already been paid or not? As in, then chasing up the freight company. I thought that it was the freight company that charged the fees on behalf of customs anyway, so that's a bit screwy.

        • @Shaw: I've heard of people paying gst twice but I'm not sure how hard they fought it.

        • @kiwijunglist:

They may as well just go and buy whatever it was from a physical shop…

  • Nexus 5X 32GB - $467 @ PBTech / $499 @ Noel Leeming.

    • Huge difference really aye… Even with the extra space.

      • yeah big difference. you can get 32gb model for about $375 NZD delivered so $100 extra for local parallel imported stock.

        • Of which about $60 is GST, so I guess it's not that far off.

        • @Shaw: jealous of australia, $1000 import gst threshold and tax back at airports :(

        • @kiwijunglist:

Yea, true that, although they are looking at reducing it to nothing soon anyway, aren't they?

        • @Shaw: If you buy through a business you can get GST back, plus you get a warranty.
