  • Price drop is impressive, but are they any good?

They've been heavily discounted before Read the comments on that deal for a few reviews.

  • i have a pair. they are good if u want bluetooth headphones. i'd say RRP is $350 not $500, maybe prices have gone up. I paid around $150 odd from memory. For $185 if you want bluetooth aptX headphones then it's a good price. If you aren't using them primaryly for bluetooth then look elsewhere.

    • Ahh my mistake. These are noise canceling ones. I have the Bluetooth version. Mdr10btmk2. I would recommend people buy audio technica ath anc7b headphones from amazon for 95usd plus delivery. Or if you want the best noise canceling then buy the bose ones.

  • I suspect headphones have some very chunky margins in them, that even at this price, they are making a decent profit. But this looks like a good price, as long as the noise canceling technology is the proper type, and not just passive like on some cheap headphones.

    • There are two types of active noise cancellation, one that eliminates consistent background noise and the other which cancels noise on-the-fly (such as someone nagging you, the noise cancellation function will cancel out the voice too). Bose QC models does this, however I'm unsure of this Sony unit here.

  • So recommendation, go to Noel Lemming, get them to price match and you get fly buys! Also good if you don't have a job hi-fi in town.

    • Also, I will probably pick a pair up tomorrow if I get off work early enough (been looking for some headphones for awhile) if anyone wants a review.

    • You could also Price Match online and get an extra $10 with the coupon MYNL16W

      • I don't think you can use the $10 off on price matches? Will try!

Just received them. They have been clearly designed for an Asian country. The box and manual are 50/50 English/Mandarin. Now, the headphones themselves, they are very small (only just overear for me and with the headband fully extended are only just large enough). I haven't had a chance to check sound quality as my monitor has died and I don't have my laptop with me, but from wearing them they feel fine (except a wee bit of pressure on the back of my ear and top of the head) and feel like they'll sound good. Also if you place a battery in them you can turn them 'on' which boost noise cancellation, and sound quality (by a lot if the manual is correct). Also the manual says a single AAA battery will last ~40hrs. Overall, for $175 they're a bargain.
