Free Data via 2degrees Data Hunt App

180

Not sure if this one should be listed under competition or not, but I would consider it a freebie.

2DEGREES DATA HUNT

2degrees have dropped 200 million megabytes of free data all over New Zealand, all you have to do is find it between 14/11/16 and 6/2/17 and it’s yours!

Using the interactive map as your guide, find 2degrees Data Spots throughout the country. When you’re in a Data Spot you’ll be able to collect data by spinning the Data Pin to find out how much free mobile data you’ve scored! All the data you collect will be loaded to your 2degrees mobile account. You could win up to 10,000MB – how much free data can you hunt down?

Not a 2degrees mobile customer? Don’t worry you can still join the hunt, just sign up to 2degrees mobile before the 31/1/17 and any data you’ve found will be added to your account.

Please note that only 2degrees Prepay, Pay Monthly, Business Select and Business Freedom Plan customers are eligible to redeem the prize data.

INTERACTIVE MAP AND DATA SPOTS

The Data Hunt interactive map will guide you through the gaming experience. Make sure you have location services turned “on” then you can use the interactive map to locate the many Data Spots throughout New Zealand. When you’re in a Data Spot you’ll be able switch to live view mode, this will allow you to spin and collect Data Pins.

DATA PINS

Every Data Spot has its own Data Pin, loaded with a range of free data values. When logged in you’ll be able to keep track of your Data Hunt progress, with live updates telling you how many Data Pins you’ve collected and their value. You can only collect data from a Data Pin once, but don’t panic, there are over 1,500 Data Pins to find and there’s up to 10,000MB to be won per 2degrees customer.

GOLDEN PINS

If you are a 2degrees customer, keep a look out for elusive Golden Pins. Golden Pins will pop up for a limited time every once in a while, track them down and give them a spin to score massive data amounts. It pays to get to these fast, because they don’t stick around for long.

SNAP AND SHARE

Whenever you collect free data you’ll be able to show it off by snapping and sharing a pic with the Data Pin. We’ll be keeping an eye out and getting in touch with the people who post our favourites, so make sure we can see your post by tagging your photo with #2degreesdatahunt.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

    • Got it, but upload is too slow out here. Will send it through on Monday from the office.

      • APK PLZ. SOON, BACKANSWER!

        • NO!

  • cool, kinda like pokestops on pokemon go, im with shkinny but if i save up enough data i will change over before the end date

  • so slow!!!

  • from what clipit said about kyle's comment, it wasn't trolling, he was 100% correct, that you can do that (was it because you're not meant to do it so..?)

  • Ts and Cs: "For 2degrees Customers: Prize Data will be applied to the 2degrees mobile phone account registered upon entry of the Game within 5 working days from the date that you spin the Data Pin and win the Prize Data."

Up to 5 days! Bizarre. Does a 2 degrees employee visit each pin to make sure you were there?

    • Up to 5 days! Bizarre. Does a 2 degrees employee visit each pin to make sure you were there?

Probably have 1 at each with a camera!

      • Ive collected alot over the weekend i got a txt that its been added in my account but its not.

The wierd thing is i collected 40mb few mins ago and that showed up in my account after a minute..

        • I got a few on the weekend, but haven't got any credited either. Didn't get any today to test though.

        • @Shaw: oh my bad. i got the 365days data carryover from data hunt. my $19 carry over was on hold over the weekend thats why it didnt show up. got all of the datas in my account now. the once i got today only valid for 30 days though.

        • @fishneck:

just 30 days? Maybe they have changed it. Wasn't it 12 months?

        • @Shaw: i bought carryover $19 and new datas i am getting is 1 year again.

  • Still after an APK :( it seems it's rejecting me based on country - google account purchases are in aussie dollars, country shows as USA. Weird.

    • Give me half an hour to upload it, didn't go into the office, so on this junk ADSL.

      • Thanks buddy. Approaching a gig already :D

        • No worries mate, enjoy! Nice one, it apparently doesn't end until next year, so I'll have to see how it goes.

    • your phone should not be rooted or breakjail , or else it won't work, maybe that way?

      • Na, that's not the case, mine is rooted and it still works fine.

  • I'm up to 1.9gigs on this already - is filling in the 1 week gap between my pay monthly plan ending and me heading overseas - don't even need credit to gather data so have been gathering and using it with no top up needed!

Finding the bonus data amounts weird though - had a bunch of 20's and 30mb's today then tonight got 200mb, 300mb then another 300mb in a row.

  • Currently a gold pin here. Picked up 1GB using Fake GPS app.

      • I fly out of NZ on Monday and yet i'm still collecting data!

        • Can you use it roaming? Haha

        • @Shaw:

Doubt it! Plus always cheaper (Although infinitely more difficult in India) to pickup local sim than pay roaming - even if it is a daily charge on some carriers.

        • @asmcar:

Ha yea, was sort of tongue in cheek.

    • Fake GPS app

      Link? Android or iOS?

      • On Android i've been using this one, haven't had any issues with it. Just make sure you work across the city and leave walking time in between. The 2degrees app won't let you collect a pin if it calculates you moved between pins too fast.

        • Didn't have a problem getting 2 pins within 20 seconds on the bus ride in bulls that were on the route. Didn't work though on the return route for my other number, updated app though. I was lucky I reckon.

  • Anyone else having trouble getting the app to even run on their phone? I'm running an S6, stock android, unrooted, and am a 2degrees customer.

    • +1

MY wife has the same issue, and I have no idea why. She's running a similar phone to mine, same situation, but just won't work.

  • I've been spoofing the GPS too and collect a few GB data. Great promo

  • Last week for the promo to get your free data
