  • They not providing RAW data as far as I can see so you will not able to check yourself for different deceases. 23andme looks more useful

    • TLDR; 23 and me way more useful, double the price

Yeah they don't provide raw data. The other thing to consider though is price - I looked into it and 23 and me is 149+39.99 USD (so ~250AUD and nearly double) and they won't interpret the raw data for you (even though they provide a report for US customers). Also the genealogy results in these tests work from a database - ie matching to people already in the database. Because ancestry market heavily in AUS/NZ and 23 and me don't, the ancestry customer database is more likely to have a greater number of people from this area and is more likely to provide relevant genealogy information. With raw data though you can upload your data to other genealogy projects and potentially find out more. I've been excited about these tests and the data that comes out of them for a while, but the service is so watered down and the shipping cost so high for us compared to the US market that it feels like a raw deal.

I think they do provide the raw data, they just dont really promote it

that link is for .com instead of .com.au but i imagine its the same.

DNA file you get isnt the same as 23andme but still works on some sites
