50% off 2degrees Pay Monthly Plans for 6 Months (New Customers)

160

2degrees has an offer this week where if you join 2degrees on their pay monthly plans they will give you 50% off each month for the first 6 months. My understanding is that you could then move away back to Prepaid etc after this 6 months, as there doesn't appear to be a contract term. can confirm no contract term.
This deal becomes even better when coupled with the extra 500mb for Uni students.

Thanks for deal. Got sick of waiting on hold so I arranged for them to call me back. (that feature is on the deal advertised on the website if anyone else was wondering)

Has any existing customers been offered this deal?

    • The Ts&Cs say the offer is only for new Pay Monthly customers. Give them a call and ask if they'd do an exception, all it will cost you is time. :)

  • So u GTA pay normal 1st month? Sounds like its 5 months at half price

    • It'd probably be 6 months of half the cost as a credit, whether you have to pay first month full or not, it'll still be 6 months.

      • yeah, but sux cos means i have to pay full for a month, was planning on joining for 6 and leaving. ill stick to skinny

    • No, it's 6 months. The normal first month is to cover from the time you join, up until the time the next billing cycle begins, which is July 4. It's a prorated charge, so you'd only be paying for the days you require. It amounts to a small charge, and does not count as part of the 6 months at 50% off deal.

Deal is even better at Warehouse Stationery. You also get $50 off any handset when you sign up to a $49.95 plan.

  • What happens to the accumulated minutes and data if one switches back to Prepay after 6 months, any idea?

    • You loose all carryover balances going back to prepaid sadly.

  • See updated post above, the $10 credit on the two highest plans is added after the 50%, so the $70 and the $50 plans come out at the same price for the first 6 months. The rep also didn't say anything about having to pay full price for the first month, but I'll see when the bill comes.

  • Works out you pay full price for the partial amount of the first month, as their billing cycle is on the 4th each month.
So if you go on the $79 plan and signed up today, you would pay $13.16 (5 days/30 days *$79=13.16) for the first month, then the next 6 months would be at the discounted rate.

You would also get the partial amount of the data allowance for the month, which would roll over as well.

  • Just thought I'd follow up in case anyone is on the fence about the process. Called and signed up on Wednesday, only took 5-10 minutes with the credit check etc. Sim dispatched same day, received it on Friday - couriers fault, would have been here Thursday. Popped the sim in and activated it, signed up to 'Your 2degrees' and requested my number be ported over from Spark. They say this is only done within business hours, so I was very impressed when my Spark sim stopped working and the 2degress one was good to go around 8pm after requesting the swap at 6pm. Coverage and everything is similar to Spark, at least where I live. The iPhone app leaves a bit to be desired, but does the job. All in all recommend the deal to anyone thinking about it.

Signed up on 30th got SIM today and it's working ok, But when I spoke to the call center, person said first bill will be generated on 4th August and the $10 discount will be applied first and then 50% so bill will be $69.95-$10 = $59.95/2=around $30 where as the guy who we signed up with said bill will be $24.95 and the $10 gets applied after the 50%. He also said first will be from date of activation till nearest billing cycle which will be 4th July. Then the guy on the phone said wait for first bill then we all can find out what happens lol.

    • My first bill was supposed to have been generated 4th Jul, haven't got it yet….. Will give them a call. I hope the $10 discount is applied after the 50% otherwise I'll be quite annoyed, I only wanted to spend $25 max. Will see and let you know.

Well the guy w signed up with confirmed that $10 discount will be applied the 50% so if I don't see it then I'm calling them and getting them to check the recording of the call. Let us know how you go.

  • Just got the first bill and it's $37.52 for some reason. Bill is there to download but won't open says corrupt file for both pdf and CSV, looks like they have just done the 50% on $69.95 plan. Anyone else got their first bill?

    • Mine due on the 9th, I'd give them a call, that price isn't what they sales person said.

    • Just checked, mine came through $25 as expected.

      • So on your bill first 50% was applied then $10 off? How is it possible that for your account it's different and for mine it's different? How can my bill be $37.52. It's so frustrating not being able to see the bill!

        • I can't see the bill yet, but it came up with $25 owing on the app. I'll let you know when my bill comes

  • Bill won't open, call centre person says even he can't see the bill but $10 will definitely be taken off after before the 50%. I said this is not what we were told then he said if you were told otherwise we can honor it but wait till the bill gets generated properly and see what the extra charges are. Online shows $37.52 and I haven't made any calls to attract extra charges except one international text.
