Google Wi-Fi 3 Pack - $399 ($200 Discount) @ JB Hi-Fi

50

Overview

Google Wifi is a new kind of home Wi-Fi system that can improve your Wi-Fi experience by seamlessly connecting with your modem or gateway.

Key Features

Google Wifi is smart, automatically putting your devices on the clearest channel and fastest band, so you can do what you love without missing a beat.

Google Wifi is modular—simply add more Wi-Fi points to extend coverage to the garage, patio, attic, or anywhere else. If you have a smaller home, start with a single point and add on if you need more coverage.

Engineered for you, made by Google: It’s everything you love about Google—smarts, security and simplicity—brought to home Wi-Fi. Google have re-thought everything about routers to create a scalable Wi-Fi solution that's reliable, flexible and handles your devices and online activities, seamlessly.

Use the Google Wifi companion app to see what’s connected, run a speedtest, quickly troubleshoot, set up a guest network, and more.

Manage kids’ screen time by pausing Wi-Fi to their devices during bedtime, dinnertime, or whenever appropriate.

Spark are selling them directly so id be surprised if that was true
Though i live in a rural area with vdsl and no plan for fibre unfortunately anyway - and ive just bought a pack of 3.

lol they work with fibre, I was just interested in why he thinks otherwise.

        • It doesnt work with Fibre in NZ out of the box as it does not support VLAN tagging. You'd need to connect the main unit to a switch and remove the VLAN tag or use it as an AP… but that kind of defeats the purpose of a mesh system.

@Gpig: The thing is that doesnt mean it doesn't work with fibre which is kind of misleading. When something doesn't work, it means its useless and doesnt perform at all… All you really need to do is plug it into the modem/router that is provided by ur ISP and itd work fine. I mean it even says it clearly in the description "Google Wifi is a new kind of home Wi-Fi system that can improve your Wi-Fi experience by seamlessly connecting with your modem or gateway."

@Gpig: It depends on the ISP, Bigpipe & MyRepublic don't require VLAN 10 tagging for example.

  • Pretty sure they don't do vlan tagging so you'd need something between these and your fibre connection.
