  • Any quality USB-C cables? Looking for USB-C to USB-C, as well as USB-C to USB-A, Benson approved of course.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 @ US$467 looks cheap until you do the maths.
    NZ$642 + $96 GST + $60 Customs handling fee = $798.
Price in NZ is $819, might as well pay the $21 extra to get consumer protection.

    • This. My Xiaomi phone terminally bootlooped after just over a year and my son's Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 lost 95% of the battery capacity after 20 months. No original battery replacement is available, but plenty of fakes are all over ebay and aliexpress. Not a brand I'm going to trust anytime soon. My Xiaomi TV Box 3 is still stuck on the original Android 6, despite promises for a Nougat upgrade and never ending A7 beta testing. The Note 2 come with Android 5 and wasn't upgraded at all to A6 or A7. Xiaomi pushes its own MIUI Android overlay, which is just an iOS looking skin clone, with their twist and questionable services in China. Their online support board is maddeningly dumb with endless threads of "thanks" posts that burry any real information (they require people to reply to see the links). $798 is not a deal. At that price get something better and more reliable.

      • 95% sounds a bit exaggerated.

Buying these Chinese phones require a bit of know-how as you won't receive OTA directly
You can find MIUI8 (Android 7) for your Redmi Note 2 here.
        http://en.miui.com/download-274.html

more over Redmi Note 2 is a low end phone and they dont get a lot of the attentions.
This happens even with Samsung you barely get latest updates if any (experience as a Samsung Galaxy J-series owner)

        • tots… totally in love with Xiaomi. I recently brought their kitchen kettle.

        • No it's not exaggarated. My son gets 20 minutes standby after charging the phone overnight. 5 minutes on screen time tops.

No, you do get direct Xiaomi OTA updates if you buy global versions. And that link points to MIUI 8.5 global ROM which for Redmi Note 2 is Android 5.0 based; - not A5.1, not A6, and certainly not A7. The MIUI version number has nothing to do with the Android version number.

Redmi Note 2 was their midrange phone at the time of release in August 2015, but they introduced the version 3 after just 4-5 months while continuing to sell both. The phones were bought in NZ from a store in a shoping mall, so I got money back for my phone.

        • @Paul: That certainly doesn't sound normal.

There are miui 9 based Roms on XDA, if I am after the latest Android version I'd avoid anything with an mtk chipset which redmi note 2 has.

They are usually on entry level devices. Snapdragon 6 series would be a better choice.

        • @wearnes: Even though the kettle can't boil water? That's what the people over at OZBargain claim.

        • @Paul:
Its not the smart version i heard that once had lots of problems, its a really nice kettle, easy to clean and boils… full stainless interior (no plastic taste)..nicely thermally insulated..quiet boil..cheap……..

I also have 3 xiaomi phones.

Sorry about your probs mate. but I'm a true believer.. then again i've had plently of experience/problems with phones, batteries, non genuine replacement parts… especially with lg devices( i once swore never to buy them again), but i also currently own a lg nexus and its a great device lol.

      • The three people I know with Xiaomi phones have had zero problems and get great battery life. I've got no issue with the brand.

      • How many charge cycles did the phone get in the 20 months? that ''could'' be normal wear and tear if its daily charged 20 months is 600 days a battery should last 350-550 charge cycles.

I am sorry that Xiaomi MIX2 is doing a promotion,
so is $469 (NZ$667) now and you don't need to pay any fees of delivery because it is free shipping.

It still requires the buyer to pay customs and import duty.

Items shipped to the UK rarely had the right amount of price declared, would it not be the same here to nz?

    • Here is a coupon for it.
$15.99 for Astrolux K1 with coupon code: 8eb490

      • I tried entering the code, but it seems to not accept it at the final checkout stage…

        • I am quite sure it works, do you mind trying it again?

        • still stings with the shipping fee. i got its down to $31 im waiting on the manager to fix the shipping charged before i pull the trigger..

        • shipping price is good now

  • Any deals on Yeelight RGB ?

    • I am sorry that we don't have any coupons for Yeelight RGB now.
I will contact you as soon as I get the coupon of it.

  • Hey rep, can we please have a deal on TS100 soldering iron, maybe the original version for $40 USD like in the past.

Also would like a deal on xiaomi or aqara door sensors, maybe a deal for a pack of 5 or 10.

    Cheers.

Have 12 xiaomi phones … Amazing

  • Any deal for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X?

    • Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X is doing a Promotion now, please go to check: https://www.banggood.com/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-4X-Fingerprint-5_…

      • Thats the usual price that goes around aliexpress and pretty much every other online store. You can pretty much get the Redmi Notes 4X for that price 365 days of the year any time. So if your calling that a promotional price that is on now… then your usual price is pretty much just a rip off price…

        • I think I paid 186 a while back

        • @wearnes: yea, Aliexpress and gearbest do deals on these phones often enough that it hits the $180 mark

  • Is there a good deal for xiaomi redmi note 4x? Thanks
