Auckland Car Hire $9/Day (Max 3 Days) Pickup from Auckland Airport to Auckland City via Wherever You Like (One Way) @ Gorentals

50

Good deal and works out cheaper than a taxi or shuttle transfer from the airport.

One of the best ways to get an amazing deal on car rental in New Zealand is to check out the rental car relocation specials.
Every week, people are taking cars from one branch to another and they often need to get these back to where they started.

I would avoid gorental auckland airport branch like the plague. Damn place charge me for fuel when I returned the car with a full tank. Speaking to their staff wasn’t any help, requested to speak to the manager and he was the biggest prick ever.

He said it wasn’t full. I have the receipt for the gas I purchased 2mins before dropping off the car and the check in report show it was full. After 45min on the phone to the manager he still didn’t care until I said I will take it up with my credit card company and go onto social media

I would avoid this deal. Sorry OP

    • Thanks for sharing you experience.

Note if I haven't misunderstood the deal, you'd only need to deal with the branch for the pickup part. Return will be with the city branch.

      Similar issue at Wellington airport.

I filled the car up at the end of the rental and did an after hours drop off at the airport. The next day I get a credit card charge for a full tank of fuel.

I called and they come up with some lame excuse that the car wasn't filled to the brim.

Go rentals seems to think that they can get away with this because the customer has no way of disproving them once they have left the vehicle.

I heard that this was an issue with some previous rentals so I took photos of the starting mileage and final mileage, the fuel receipt and the time the fuel was put in, and showed them the math…fuel consumption vs the fuel that was put in. After several emails I got a refund but the email that they sent made no sense.

      reply:
"Thank you for your email. After looking into this further, we believe that the previous customer most likely did not fill it up correctly. As the car fuel needles are not fine-tuned instruments, there is variance based on any number of factors (such as air pressure, humidity, temperature and elevation). In this case, it looks most likely that the previous customer did not fill it to the brim, and this variance caused the needle to look more full than it actually was."

ALWAYS CHECK AND KEEP THE EVIDENCE IF YOU ARE GOING TO RENT FROM HERE.

Thanks for sharing your experience too masterj

Its such a shame they do business this way.

Everytime i hear the company gorental i instantly reminded of the bad attitude of the branch manager and how much trouble it was to get a fair go!

  • I use go rental in Christchurch and Auckland when flying in from Sydney. I’ve never had a problem, competitive rates and good service. You need to walk around the vehicle with the staff member at pick up and drop off and view the petrol gauge together.
If you do this there should not be a problem.

    • i did the walk around the car on pickup and drop off. they email me the report each time and they still charged me for fuel even on the report said it was full!!

I suggest making a complaint at the commerce commission website. Just fill out the online form and click send. You can even copy and paste your statement from here lol. If nothing is done, soon this will become the norm amongst all rental companies.

          Thanks.

I think I will since the experience was so bad and looks I’m not the only person they have done this too

@mrphil: We must protect consumers, especially tourists that visit our country! I doubt many tourists would dispute it during their travels and Go Rental is taking advantage of this!
