Crucial BX500 480GB SSD - $79 @ PB Tech

80

The Crucial BX500 SSD is one of the best value mid-range SSDs available on the market, sacrificing about ~5% performance for about 2/3 of the price compared to top-tier SSDs as seen from various reviews.

PB Tech will have this SSD for $79.00 during their sale from 9-6PM 06/07/19 as seen here: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/promotions/independence-sale-2019/f…

This is the cheapest price ever for Crucial and likely the cheapest (reputable) half-terabyte SSD ever sold in New Zealand at a sweet-spot of $0.16/GB! At $79 it sets a good benchmark for SSD prices this year.

Delivery from $5.00 or free pickup in store.

Thanks for the post, I've been meaning to get a SSD for the computer I bought from my brother a few years ago.
Any tech people able to let me know what part the SSD plugs into? So I can check if I have a kind that fits this as well as my HDD?

    Cheers

Plug into a standard sata port + power just like a normal mechanical hard drives. Any pc and most laptops bought within the past 12 years will have those.

sata port. identical to the one your hdd plugs into
unless your pc is really really old and you're running IDE HDDs >.>

The 2.5" SSDs uses the 2 connectors, the SATA data and power interfaces. It is very likely your computer is compatible; this type of connector has been the same since the deprecation of IDE (Parallel ATA) drives ~2005 AD.

Edit: Wow Cheapies community tech support at its best :) !

Had the 240GB version of this for about 6months, and never had an issue. (can only comment on 6months because laptop was stolen so now have a whole new beast.)

  • Isn't this sale in-store only?

  • why would you not get the Crucial P1 500GB instead. for $20 more you get 1,900 MB/s Read, 950 MB/s write speeds + more 20GB.
