Xiaomi Roidmi F8 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner (AU/NZ Model) $329 + Shipping @ Dick Smith

30

Bought this last week for $389 and a week later it's now on discount at $329 :(

Pretty good reviews for this vacuum cleaner, comparable to the Dyson V8 (which costs way more), but some sites also say comparable to the V10. The new Roidmi Nex Storm just came out on Indiegogo, so if this might drop in price once retailers stock the new generation model.

Don't think any other retailers sell Roidmi though, but $329 is a pretty decent price for a cordless vacuum cleaner of this caliber. A lot of good reviews about it.

Last cheapest deal was $299 according to PriceMe.

Not sure when the deal ends but it has been a few days already.

  • It's gonna be a major issue when the battery dies (inevitably) and to find someone who can ship li ion batteries internationally. Considering this is not sold locally.

    • Aliexpress will do. Not my first time dealing with these things. And still cheaper to buy another brand new one than to get a new Dyson at $1000+

      • Couldn't find anyone selling this particular model of cleaners let alone replacement batteries on AliExpress.

        • You can find Banggood selling it. But yeah I just checked their official site and other places and doesnt look like you can buy batteries to replace it yourself.

Having owned a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Pocophone F1 and 2x Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaners, I personally trust the quality of Xiaomi products. Their robot vacuum cleaners have tons of good reviews online, so does the Roidmi cordless vacuum cleaner. Personally I would just buy another one, instead of buying a V10 or V8 and run into the same issue replacing battery and potentially spending more on the replacement part.

      • Zyo is spot on, it's real hard to get batteries into NZ now. I had to replace the battery in my Xiaomi robot vacuum and I tried purchasing a replacement battery from Aliexpress. I tried like 6 sellers, each one either cancelled the order or the battery never arrived. I ended up asking the Xiaomi store in Sylvia park for a replacement instead.

        • How much did you pay to get the battery replaced at the Sylvia Park store, and how much did the battery cost on Aliexpress?

Maybe it's just me, but I still don't really understand the problem. I personally own both the Dyson v11 and the Roidmi F8. I haven't used the F8 for too long (just got it last week), but so far, everything about it is amazing and is on par with the latest Dyson models. I spent like $950 on the v11 (it was on discount at the time too) and $389 for the Roidmi F8. At $329, I could buy almost 3x Roidmi F8s. I also have 2x robot cleaners from Xiaomi, still going strong after 2 years.

It's kinda like the transition from phones with replaceable battery covers to phones with a one-piece design. Most phones nowadays don't let you replace batteries easily, you'd have to use special screwdriver tools to open them and probably need to get it replaced in store. Just because the battery isn't easily replaceable, it doesn't stop people spending $1000 on a phone, be it an iPhone or Samsung or whatever. Meh.

          • @NovaAlpha: How many vacuums do you need??

            • @4znDvd: Ahaha i get that question a lot. We have a big house and are too busy (and lazy). So our robot vacuum cleaners do most of the work everyday and we just use the cordless ones every now and then.

          • @NovaAlpha: Interesting.. we have been looking at a V11 vs F8.. (Also the Shark ION which I can pick up for around $600)

How are you finding the F8 ? I have seen some reviews and the meh bits seem to be the small capacity bin/difficulty in cleaning it.

I paid $40-60 NZD per try on Aliexpress. From the Xiaomi store in Sylvia park I paid $85 for the battery, plus $10 freight and GST (all up $109.25).

I have three of the Xiaomi vacuums for several years now and only one needed the battery replaced. It would suddenly shut off during mid clean and i would have to carry it back to base. I got all the vacuums from different sellers on Aliexpress so I'm not sure if the battery from that seller was just a dodgy knock off that failed fast, or if it failed due to that vacuum being based in our carpeted garage (and the extreme temperature fluctuations in there got to it).

I assume people can still get an entire Xiaomi vacuum sent from Aliexpress which includes the battery. Maybe the sellers don't want to bother with fees/paperwork just for a $40 battery on its own.

  • From what I can see the battery is not replaceable.

As it is always an important point : The battery of the F8 cannot be replaced.
