It varies based on items. TVs are better on their other sales normally.
Dunno about whiteware or phones/cameras.When I've checked in the past it seems like the person behind the till just makes up a price.
It would be interesting to get inside info from a noellemming employee
Depends on the normal markup of the item.
Expect bigger reductions on the likes of USB leads, laptop bags etc
I wonder if ComCom does check whether the claim of "cost" is really their cost, maybe "cost" is just a term up to retailers to define, not really the price they pay their suppliers for the products, like some of us would assume…LOL
Used to work at NL. The cost price is legitimate. It's based on an average cost over time. Expect around 5-15% off laptops, smartphones, and that kind of thing. The margin depends on the brand and other factors.
The real savings are on high margin accessories - cables, bags, cases, etc, which can often be 50-75% off.
When I worked there, extended warranties ended up being around $10 with the discount, so that's worth asking about too.One problem is the cost price changes all the time. So it can look like a rip off to customers sometimes.
As I said, it's based on average cost. Plus this isn't exactly a public deal, can't complain too much. There are good discounts to be had.
Cost +5%/7.5% storewide excludes IT accessories, PC software, AV accessories, & PC consumables. Average cost reflects the average price of the product including any administration and handling costs, and does include any volume related adjustments which may apply and GST.
So basically no high-margin items, and they're still putting a margin to cover paying staff. That doesn't sound unreasonable, but it also makes the whole "COST +%5!!!" bit feel a bit… dishonest.
Lots of high margin items are included. I once got a $40 HDMI cable for $3 :P That's the dishonest part if you ask me.
@UnitedWeFall: Specifically excluding AV accessories rules out the hdmi cables for example.
So this is a 'go in and check out what you're interested in' type deal. In some cases it might be better than a special, or it might be worse. It's an option though, go and check and see how you go and you might get lucky.
Agree in concept though, these price + 5% type deals are a bit murky at times. They're never going to tell you what they pay for the item, and this price changes for them over time too, hence the averaging.
Is there a higher quality version, or what is the SKU down the bottom?
Additional proof for the eligibility other than the flyer?
Anyone got a good deal with heatpumps before?
I got quotes from them for Mitsubishi heat pumps last time this offer came round. Discount wasn't that impressive and I passed. It's a tricky one buying a heat pump retail since you then have to find someone to fit time (unless you're prepared to give it a crack yourself).
There's no DIY with heat pump installs. Hell you need to pay top dollar for the reputable guys as a good installation is critical.
Does anyone know if external hard drives are included in the list of discounted items?
I'm not quite sure if it falls under IT accessories..I Doubt there is much markup on external drives, would be better waiting for a pbtech sale (which happens every other week)
has anyone used this before? around how much cheaper than the listed price online?
