A great price for an iPhone refurbished by Apple themselves (trust me besides the plain white packaging you wouldn't be able to tell a difference between a new and Apple's refurb).

The iPhone 5s isn't even that old… it's only been 1&1/2 years since release and will be receiving iOS 9 this fall. Since it has a 64bit processor (newer technology), it will be expected to be supported for another 2-3 more years.

Apple's products retain a high selling value and with the increasing dollar, this is a great deal for a iPhone refurbished by Apple themselves!

Regarding warranty (this is just based on my assumptions and experience)

Since these claim to come with a 1 year Apple warranty, I suspect this refurbished stock was originally marketed for the Australian sector. If this is the case, with experience I can definitely vouch that Apple's Australian Products have an advantage over NZ stock. For those unaware, the Australian consumer law enforces all Apple Products must come with a 2 year warranty. Since New Zealand is pretty close to Aus, Apple extends the 2nd year to New Zealanders too (under the exception that the phone was originally from Australia - the IMEI will prove that).

I've gathered this information from a Apple senior representative when I had my Aussie 5s replaced in NZ (during the 2nd year) without any questions. There is no official statement about this nor is there any official statement that Apple honours the 2nd year to Aussie's either, however when you check the serial number on their website it will say it's eligible for extended service and till now they are still honouring it.
