  • Nice find.

Can get them for about $80USD from Amazon, so it's much better than that!

What ~store~ location was this at?

    • Judging from the "Price Promise and Flybuys", I'm guessing Noel Leeming! Good find!

Sorry, I was meaning which location, will rewrite it.

          Sweet!

  • I'm interested in the Home Media concept of this tablet, but unable to find any information on HDMI and USB connections for this tablet, does it have these types of connections?

    • According to this review video found on YouTube, there are no HDMI or USB connections for this tablet, just the 3.5 Audio, Micro USB and MicroSD connection. You can use a OTG cable (very cheap) and treat it as any other USB connection port. Can plug in a small HUB and use a keyboard and/or mouse. Not too sure about using this as home entertainment as there are not "monitor" plugs.

Can i recommend Winbook TW700 I purchased one last year for $60usd and after shipping ended up costing $110NZD for 7inch windows 8.1 tablet with full sized usb and micro HDMI. Currently running Windows 10 preview on it with streaming from Xbox One.

Apologies for putting your hopes up high. Quite disappointing as Pendo Tablet in Oz were going as low as $79 with a micro hdmi. But the screen is horrible tho…

      Read that this supports miracast.

      • Yep, it supports miracast. So will be perfect if you have a good wifi connection + a smart TV that supports Miracast. My experience with mirror screening is pretty bad, but that was 2 years ago, might be good now?

  • Could you save a further $5 by asking WHS to beat it?

They are selling it for $199 here:

  • Have the stream 8… if it's similar to that, I wouldn't recommend it… battery life is terrible as it drains even on standby so if you put it to one side and when you come back to use it later it is always dead unless it is plugged in. Screen also bleeds and the headphones adapter has crackling sound which seems to be a common fault that HP just doesn't care about.

    • I have got the Lenovo 8 ThinkPad, I agree in regards to battery life. Its really bad compared to an ipad..its the problem with Windows 8 as it doesnt put the hardware into idle state I think..just keeps running in the background even if its blanked out..

      • Have you tried 10? Is that any better?

        • Sorry for the late one. I havent tried it before but lenovo products have been pretty good for me. Fell in love with the Yoga laptop and now the thinkpad 8. The 10 probably gonna have as long battery life as the 8. The battery life is very good if youre using the tablet just not when its in an idle state..this is when the battery runs out. Are you looking into getting the 10?

        • @bigbosssnake:

Oh, sorry bro, I meant Windows 10!

Although, to answer, na, already got a tablet.

        • Haha will try that soon!

      • It's not a windows 8 thing, I've tried other devices such as surface 3 or surface pro and battery issue doesn't happen. I put it down to crappy HP hardware, i.e crackling sound on headset port…. how does that make it through quality assurance?

        • I suffer with the same issue with Thinkpad 8, probably not as bad as how yours is..but yeah.. Will try windows 10 according to @Shaw recommendation

        • @bigbosssnake:

At the end of the day, it is definitely not going to fix hardware issues, but if by some change there is a software issue of some kind in the original image, then a clean install might help, and why not use 10, it's much better than 8/8.1 anyway (And I really liked 8/8.1 too).
