Yep I do… I'm looking at investing more - obviously at the moment its not a great time - but even now in a bear market/possible recession - sharesies is a great platform to learn how to invest (I've only used referral cash and the $5 free referred and I've tripled my investments. Had I invested more cash I'd be doing very well. However I AM an aggressive investor(again having invested none of my own cash) and if it were my own savings of larger amounts I'd be far more conservative. But its a great way to practice in the real world - with real money. I took a hit at the beginning of Covid-19 even though I saw it coming… I waited perhaps 2 or 3 days too long to sell which was a lesson well learnt. On the other hand I recouped about 2/3's of my loss and my main assets have just taken some aggressive financial loans moving forward and in maybe 3 months I expect to be 25% up.

My opinion? If you're interested in investing but aren't in the high to middle income level in NZ - sharesies is a great place to learn, and they also get your micro(by their standard) investments to back their own larger ones.

My only criticism? The time delay between selling/buying and transaction can make a fair difference to profit/loss and theirs is certainly slower than having a professional broker of your own.

I would definitely promote them - like their vibe, AND almost weekly webinars on investing advice very welcome.

    • Yes I use and enjoy Sharesies

    • Yep and it's much, much cheaper than the alternative (ASB securities) if investing small amounts. $30 per trade per company from ASB securities will get you up to $6000 invested per trade per company with Sharesies before ASB is cheaper. Then you also have the $30/yr sub fee which pales in comparison to trading fees if you invest regularly.

Only says $5 for each person. Where did you get $10 from?

    • Agree, only $5 for me, the referer.

Things you learned in kindy are the basis of everything you know now.
Or throw money at a financial advisor without any inkling of what you're doing. I had a friend who invested in recyclable paper(tree farms) in Australia in the 2000's - he inherited millions of dollars from his father - he not only lost his investment but as he didn't own the land the rotating pines were on(just the pines) he ended up paying more to dispose of them. He had zero investment experience and lost around 150k. Sharesies gives you the opportunity to invest in the real world just like kindy without the consequences. They get a small percent which I'm sure they invest to create their own wealth and everybody wins.
