Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 $499 | Apple Airpods Pro $399 @ PBTECH

20

PB Tech's winter sale has some good headphones/wireless audio deals that I've personally been waiting for.

  • Bose 700 ($499) have never been under $500, this is the lowest price ever for these - the previous lowest being $529. 2 colours available: Black PB Link and the limited edition Soapstone PB Link:

  • Airpods Pro ($399) are also lower than the usual RRP of $449 and the usual discounted $429 from reputable retailers (not parallel imported). Airpods PB Link

These prices can be price matched at Noel Leeming, JB etc. if you wish to buy from them instead and get flybuys or pay with no CC surcharge.

I'm considering switching out my Sony XM3's (which are also on sale for $399) to be replaced with the Bose 700s.

Cheers!

There are quite a lot of bose 700 on trademe, around 400-4500 dollars, all brandnew, personally i would rather wait for xm4

    • Yup, not long until the XM4 drops!
I recently got the spatial audio feature on my Airpods Pro and they sound just like my XM3's with 8D to 2000D audio off Youtube. But after listening to XM3's the audio is definitely better (because bigger drivers) but Airpods Pro doesn't disappoint with its spatial audio update. Almost made me consider selling the XM3's

      • Wireless ones? I’m tempted by the price of the white wireless ones but unsure how well the noise cancelling could possibly perform in an earbud as opposed to over-ear unit…

        • Airpods Pro obviously not as good as XM3's in ANC but after I got the Airpods Pro, I've not touched me XM3's since February lol and it's still got 90% charge on them. It's just convenient and ANC is surprisingly good in a small form factor, though obviously not as good as XM3's.

I've been using Sony's since XM2's because OG Airpods never fit my ears until they released the Airpods Pro and am quite happy with them as I can move from iPhone to Macbook seamlessly now with the new update. Would still use my XM3's when I travel internationally though..

      • Hey how did you get spacial audio on Airpods? Did you pair them with an iOS14 device? Can you still pair them with an iOS13 device afterwards?

        • I'm still on 13.5.1 but Airpods Pro received the update so it's not necessary to update to iOS14 Beta. As long as the Airpods Pro are on the 2D27 update you should have spatial audio. Just test it with any 8D to 2000D audio on Youtube and you'll hear the difference. Or even search up and listen to 'Dolby Atmos Test'

          • @saxasianguy: Just checked and 2D27 doesn’t have spacial audio, that firmware is still coming in September! Their ANC just improved on 2D27, can hear the difference already.

  • Perhaps a silly question - can I use Airpods Pro with my Huawei P30 Pro? Or does it only work with other Apple products?

    • It works with android though some features of the 'Pro' won't work iirc…

    • Using my Airpods Pro with the Huawei P30, no issues hear. Features including ANC, play, next track can be controlled via touch controls on the Airpods themselves. Would recommend setting it up initially with an Apple device.

  • Also, for the Airpod Pro, could possibly get to the same discounted price if The Market does another $50 off $300+ spend? I've read good reviews so am tempted.

    • Just repeating what saxasianguy said above. Since buying my Airpods pro, barely touched my XM3's so that says a bit. 100% worth it. I know the XM3's have better audio quality and all but Airpods just work for me. $369 - $50 = $319 if that Market deal comes back.

  • Just wait and get XM4. BOSE is nice but not foldable. Xm3 are as good as the 700. XM4 would be the ones to get.

  • I am waiting for the XM4 to come back under $400

  • Having listened to both Bose 700 and Sony XM3 for an extended time, I would not buy Bose 700 at that price. I found Bose to be a lot fatiguing after 30 mins or so. I haven't heard XM4 yet, so cannot comment. If you are into HeadFi or Stereo HiFi, you would certainly pickup both these headphones are not high fidelity.
    Hope XM4 bridges that gap.
