That's a pretty smart incentive to go get tested. Good stuff.

They should have had this sort of incentive far earlier. Thank you all tax payers for the masks. But there are many that need them that won't get them. They really should be distributed to every household. Testing also needs to be kept up, as it was the lack of testing that hadn't picked this up earlier.

    • well said, agree they should be post the masks to all household, a lot of elderly wont be able to go to test centers

They need more pop-ups near supermarkets

    • They really should be going around houses in affected communities, asking people to be tested and also dropping off boxes of masks too. Not everyone goes to the supermarket, or has a car to get to a testing station.

they really should not have been so picky a month ago with the testing, I know people that work at the hospital that had symptoms that were told that they did not need a test

        • I can verify this. We were appalled and knew a resurgence was inevitable.

  • Probably better if they gave away reusable ones.. better for environment and probably more cost effective than this. But at least they are trying…

True, although these ones are probably more effective, as guessing they are medical grade filtering. I saw someone wearing a homemade mask that had a hole cut out for the mouth. I think they were taking the piss.

      • yea these arent p2/n95 masks so theres not much filtering going on. Probably similar if not worse than a standard reusable mask

        • I wore a disposable mask for the first time yesterday (at work) and I was surprised how bad they were. At least a fabric mask actually fits tightly onto a face - this had huge gaps. Though the plastic type fabric is probably better for filtration.

          • @hiimpengu: I understand some are just surgical, so can have big gaps around them, so may not be best for this application.

  • Hi, does anyone know if they're still giving out the free masks? Only just aware of it this morning. Thanks
